Compliance With NCCN Guidelines for Evaluation and Treatment of Anemia Among Patients With Solid Tumors
CONCLUSIONS: Anemia is common in patients with solid tumors; yet, compliance with NCCN Guidelines for evaluation and treatment of anemia remains low. There are opportunities to improve compliance with guidelines across the spectrum of cancer care.PMID:38489926 | DOI:10.6004/jnccn.2023.7108 (Source: Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network : JNCCN)

Spontaneous rupture ‑induced life‑threatening mediastinal mixed germ cell tumor: A case report and therapeutic considerations
Oncol Lett. 2024 Feb 28;27(4):183. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14316. eCollection 2024 Apr.ABSTRACTSpontaneous rupture and hemorrhage of mediastinal germ cell tumors is a rare occurrence. In the current report, the case of a 20-year-old male patient who was admitted with chest tightness and dyspnea is presented. An urgent chest CT scan revealed a large tumor in the right anterior mediastinum, measuring ~12 cm in diameter, with associated intratumoral hemorrhage. An emergency thoracotomy was performed to excise the lesion, which revealed that the bleeding was caused by a ruptured tumor. Postoperative pathological findings revealed...

Isolated testicular tuberculosis mimicking testicular malignancy in a 45-year-old male treated at a tertiary hospital. Case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: Testicular TB is a curable disease, but its diagnosis remains challenging. It is often missed owing to its non- specific symptoms. Thus, testicular TB should be suspected in patients with a notion of contagion or history of tuberculosis. Some of the radiological features are highly suggestive of testicular TB. FNAB could prevent unnecessary orchidectomy. In our case, the presentation was typically mimicking a testicular cancer and the patient underwent trans inguinal orchiectomy, and histology and ZN stain confirmed the diagnosis followed by subsequent six-month anti TB therapy.PMID:38471216 | DOI:10.1016/j.ijs...

Iodine ‑125 seeds combined with carboplatin in the treatment of retroperitoneal metastatic seminoma: A case report and literature review
Oncol Lett. 2024 Feb 15;27(4):156. doi: 10.3892/ol.2024.14289. eCollection 2024 Apr.ABSTRACTTesticular seminoma is a relatively rare malignant tumor, with the most common site of recurrence and metastasis being the retroperitoneal lymph nodes. Since seminoma is highly sensitive to radiotherapy and chemotherapy, even if it metastasizes, its cure rate is still >95%. However, the long-term toxicity and side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy cannot be ignored. Iodine-125 seeds represent a low-energy radioactive source that kills tumor cells while protecting the surrounding normal tissues, and brachytherapy using iodi...
