What is the minimum one would have to donate in this day and age for it to sway an entire adcom to give the applicant an acceptance? if donations are tax deductible, do you get the entire amount back no matter how much? I'm not too familiar with how taxes work. Asking simply out of curiousity... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

FAFSA opening date changes to Oct. 1st.
Hi Everyone, There are two major changes to the FAFSA for this coming year. For the upcoming 2017-2018 school year, the FAFSA opening date has been moved to Oct. 1, 2016 instead of Jan.1, 2017. The second change is that you will use the 2015 tax return information. You won't have to wait to complete your 2016 taxes in order to file. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Paying back Loans, Re-financing, etc from a starting attending...
Hi guys and gals, I just graduated from residency and will be starting my new job in FM. My wife does not work at this time but will be doing so (she is a non-physician; once she starts work, anticipate 30-40k/yr for her). My salary will be roughly 248k/yr, anticipate losing half in taxes. I've been reading the WCI book @The White Coat Investor which has been helpful. I'm just feeling very...daunted with the task of paying back these loans. Any insight or advice is... Paying back Loans, Re-financing, etc from a starting attending... should I take out money from 401k during residency
Hey guys, I'm currently a PGY-II radiology resident (making ~65k). My intern program last year put ~$4000 into our 401k account. I'm considering taking this out now because I'm probably at the at the lowest possible tax bracket in my lifetime. Even with the 10% penalty, I still project that I'll pay more in taxes after retirement probably. What do you guys think? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why does everyone say med school is expensive?
Is it really? Their tuition according to MSAR seems comparable to undergrad schools. Why do people stress about loans? For an applicant with no undergrad loans, is it still stressful financially? I feel like I'm missing something…also, if your parents offer to pay but are each earning ~90K per year, will it still be hard to pay for the entire med school without any loans? I'm asking because I honestly don't know much about taxes and how it works :/ (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MEDNAX buy out--stay or go
My group is being bought out by MEDNAX. They offered me about 1/3 the buy out the partners get (more like 1/4th after taxes) if I sign a five year contract. I've worked with the group for almost a year. Do I stay or run like hell? I have no strong ties to the geographic location. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
