NYTimes: Vets in debt-low income -IBR discussed
This article is worth reading. Page 3: (Note: Today she has $312,000 in student loans.) Today, her debt exceeds her salary by a factor of five — much higher than the recommended twice-starting-salary ratio. She signed up for income-based repayment, a government program available to federal student loan recipients. (A newer program with slightly more generous terms, called Pay As You Earn, or PAYE, is available to more recent graduates.) Both income-based repayment and PAYE allow graduates to lead relatively normal lives by paying back a modest percentage of their income based on a formula. After a fixed amount of...

Medicaid
When will people realize that Medicaid is bankrupting our country? If people are on Medicaid they are always "sicker" getting 10 prescriptions at a time? Why is the taxpayer paying for your aspirin? Why is the taxpayer paying for your suboxone? It's not my problem you're addicted to drugs. Tax payer paying for your birth control? Your plan b??? And they fill crap, don't even take it, just refill it because it's free. "refill anything I can get" is the classic line. Aside from the fact how much fraud there is. Tax payer paying for that 10 percocets that they get from the ER that they sell on the ...

I walk in and ask a guy wearing a polo shirt too small and no undershirt how much it will cost to get a prescription for eyeglasses? He points at the sign and says &quo...

MPH FAFSA question
Hi everyone- So I'm applying to George Washington for my MPH, and recieved an e-mail that said: "Do you plan to apply for Financial Aid? If so, submit your FAFSA by the Priority Deadline (January 15) to receive your financial aid package in early April." I'm working on FAFSA now, but there's some information that I just don't see how I can fill out until I file taxes, which I'm not doing until about a week after the "priority deadline". Namely, the amount of income tax I'm paying in 2012. On one part of FAFSA, it said I could use information from 2011 if it was similar to 2012, but I wasn't working...

Do you have to claim assistance on your taxes?
Does anyone know if the CFPAP and/or the manufacturer patient assistance programs send out 1099 forms? I'd like to know if I need to budget paying taxes on the amount of assistance I get. (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Payment Assistance Resources Forum)
