Evaluation and Characterization of Modified K114 Method to Localize Plaques in Rodent and Plaques and Tangles in Human Brain Tissue
CONCLUSION: Our modified method can label amyloid plaques within 5 min in the rat brain and within 20 min in the human brain. Our results indicated that modified K114 could be used as a valuable tool for detecting amyloid plaques and tangles with high contrast and resolution relative to other conventional fluorescence markers.PMID:38566375 | DOI:10.2174/0115672050295561240327055835 (Source: Current Alzheimer Research)

The distribution of esophageal cancer patients enrolled in care at the Uganda Cancer Institute by sub-regions, districts and ethnicity
Conclusion: Patients are commonly from the administrative districts of Central, Southwestern, Elgon and East Central sub-regions and neighbouring countries of Rwanda, South Sudan and Kenya. Baganda, Banyakole, Bagisu and Basoga are the main ethnic groups. Central and Southwestern sub-regions are with most post-care outcomes. Keywords: Esophageal cancer; sub-regions; districts; ethnicity; Uganda. (Source: African Health Sciences)

Characteristics of sudanese camel-hair fibres under subtropical desert condition
AbstractThe study assessed the quality and variability of camel hair fibres in arid regions of Egypt. Raw camel-hair samples were collected from fifteen Sudanese camels divided into seven males (414.60  ± 38.19 kg, BW) and eight females (401.67 ± 26.76 kg BW), and the study investigated the influences of animal sex on both the physical and chemical traits of camel-hair fibers. The relationships among physical properties and both mineral and amino acid content were studied. Camel’s se x had no significant effect on any of the studied traits including fibre diameter (FD), prickle factor (PF), medullated fibre (...

Impact of annual community-directed treatment with ivermectin on the incidence of epilepsy in Mvolo, a two-year prospective study
ConclusionsThe observed decrease in epilepsy incidence despite suboptimal CDTI coverage highlights the potential impact of onchocerciasis control efforts and underscores the need to strengthen these efforts in Mvolo County and across South Sudan. As a proactive measure, Mvolo and neighbouring counties are transitioning to biannual CDTI. Furthermore, the substantial epilepsy treatment gap in Mvolo should be addressed. Normothermic Preservation of the Intestinal Allograft
Intestinal allotransplantation was first described in the 1960s and successfully performed in the 1980s. Since that time, less progress has been made in the preservation of the allograft before transplantation and static cold storage remains the current standard. Normothermic machine perfusion represents an opportunity to simultaneously preserve, assess, and recondition the organ for transplantation and improve the procurement radius for allografts. The substantial progress made in the field during the last 60  years, coupled with the success of the preclinical animal model of machine perfusion-preserved intestinal transp...
