Dartmouth (Geisel) vs Miami (Miller)
Hello everyone, I have been fortunate to receive acceptances to both Dartmouth and Miami and would appreciate any thoughts/insights into this decision, especially as all interviews have been virtual this cycle and its not possible to visit campus unfortunately. Some minor background about me, I am a 23 year old male from CA, looking to pursue a competitive specialty (possibly IR), enjoy outdoors/sports but would probably rather be in urban environment (but not deal breaker). Would like to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Merits of away rotations for FM vs electives that you wouldn't normally be able to do
I am trying to decide if it is more beneficial for me to try and do a couple away rotations for FM at potential programs I might like, vs rotations that would be very helpful for future FM practice such as ortho clinic, sports med, radiology, derm, ICU. I have good stats for FM, so an away for me would be more to try and get to know a certain program better. I have read on these forums though that rotations such as derm, rads, rural FM, clinic ortho, and ICU are really nice to help for FM... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rant: Cranial OMM is easily the biggest waste of time. This is complete quackery.
To preface this, I really like OMM when it comes to ganglionic releases, GI disorders, and sports med applications. However, cranial is easily the biggest load of crap I've ever experienced in my life. In fact, it makes me embarrassed to be a DO student. I have spent hours in lab trying to feel pulsations and fluctuations in spinal fluid and the CRI (cranial rhythmic impulse). My hands were just awkwardly placed on my partner's head with the lights turned off and they expect me to palpate... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Sports and Spine Fellowship
Hello, I have tried to find the answer to these questions on different sites, but have not so please bear with me if you have seen these asked and answered thoroughly before. I am starting my rank order for PMR residencies right now but am interested in possible fellowships in future. I think Sports/spine fellowship is very interesting to me but have seen that these are not ACGME accredited. 1)If I do not plan to work in a big academic setting, is this a huge issue to go into a... OTD/ MSOT 2021 cycle
Hi there! I'm applying to OT schools for this cycle and would love some feedback. I'm not a traditional college student. I graduated with my B.S. in sports management back in 2018 and went back to school to finish my pre-reqs for PT school. (decided to do OT instead). My UG GPA is 3.67 My pre-req GPA is 3.2 I've worked at 3 different clinics (mostly front office) helping verify insurance, schedule, check-in patients. I would also help out in the back both PT's and OT's when possible. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Sports Medicine 2020 - 2021
How many programs are you all going to apply to this year? A resident who matched to start this year applied to 35, but thought that was too many. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Making Friends in Medical School
Long Story about me -- if you want to skip, my question is bolded at the bottom... I had tons of friends in high school -- really close friend groups from 2 different sports and a super tight-knit group of friends that were really involved in my church / FCA. Every night of the week I had things going on including sports, clubs, church things, etc. and then on the weekends, I was invited to so many things I would always have to pick and choose or try and attend a chunk of each! It... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Orgo 2 and Physics 2 together- doable?
Just wanted to see what the consensus is on taking these two classes together with labs in one semester. 3 other regular classes .. history, exercise science, etc would be taken as well. Is this a normal schedule or would it be more reasonable to take one of these in the summer? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Endoscopy tech or scribe?
I have two offers currently: one to work as an endoscopy technician at a GI office, and another to work as a medical scribe at a orthopedics and sports medicine office. I'm leaning towards the endoscopy tech because pay is like 2-4 dollars better than the scribing position, and I'd be able to do things like insert IVs and other things I've never done before, but I'd be working like 32 hours a week while studying for my MCAT and taking 4 classes (easy classes but yeah). Scribe would be like... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Can you still operate over the whole body
It seems like these days the trend in ortho is to specialize pretty heavily. You become a joints guy or shoulder/elbow guy or a spine guy or a sports guy. A generation ago it seems like there were a lot more general orthopods who operated on joints, hand, elbow etc. Is this still possible or do you basically need to just focus on one part of the body now to get a job out of residency? (especially in competitive markets like cities) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

UW Seattle
Hi everybody, I was wondering if there were any current UW students who wouldn't mind sharing their stats they applied and got accepted with. Or if anybody else is applying to UW and wants to share theirs below, I'd love to see if I even have a shot as I know it's a very competitive program. I'll leave my states below If anybody has any input, I'd love to hear. I am also applying to SJSU, USC, USA San Marcos, CSU and UPS. Degree: Kinesiology- Concentration in Exercise Science...
