Benefits of Soybean in the Era of Precision Medicine: A Review of Clinical Evidence
J Microbiol Biotechnol. 2023 Aug 28;33(12):1-11. doi: 10.4014/jmb.2308.08016. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSoybean (Glycine max) is an important ingredient of cuisines worldwide. While there is a wealth of evidence that soybean could be a good source of macronutrients and phytochemicals with healthpromoting effects, concerns regarding adverse effects have been raised. In this work, we reviewed the current clinical evidence focusing on the benefits and risks of soybean ingredients. In breast, prostate, colorectal, ovarian, and lung cancer, epidemiological studies showed an inverse association between soybean food intake an...

Multicenter Phase 1b/2a Clinical Trial of Radioprotectant BIO 300 Oral Suspension for Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Receiving Concurrent Chemoradiotherapy
: Radiotherapy is part of the standard treatment regimen for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). While radiotherapy is an effective tool to manage NSCLC, it can be associated with significant dose-limiting toxicities. These toxicities can lead to treatment interruption or early termination, worsening clinical outcomes, in addition to reductions in patient quality of life. Based on preclinical efficacy for radioprotection of normal tissues, we evaluated the clinical utility of BIO 300 Oral Suspension (BIO 300; synthetic genistein nanosuspension) in patients with NSCLC. Oxidative stress, hormones, and effects of natural antioxidants on intestinal inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic, relapsing gastrointestinal (GI) disorder characterized by intestinal inflammation. The etiology of IBD is multifactorial and results from a complex interplay between mucosal immunity, environmental factors, and host genetics. Future therapeutics for GI disorders, including IBD, that are driven by oxidative stress require a greater understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms mediated by reactive oxygen species (ROS). In the GI tract, oxidative stressors include infections and pro-inflammatory responses, which boost ROS generation by promoting the production of pro-in...

< em > Priestia megaterium < /em > Metabolism: Isolation, Identification of Naringenin Analogues and Genes Elevated Associated with Nanoparticle Intervention
Curr Issues Mol Biol. 2023 Aug 14;45(8):6704-6716. doi: 10.3390/cimb45080424.ABSTRACTThe impact of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) on the biosynthetic manipulation of Priestia megaterium metabolism where an existing gene cluster is enhanced to produce and enrich bioactive secondary metabolites has been studied previously. In this research, we aimed to isolate and elucidate the structure of metabolites of compounds 1 and 2 which have been analyzed previously in P. megaterium crude extract. This was achieved through a PREP-ODS C18 column with an HPLC-UV/visible detector. Then, the compounds were subjected to nuclear magnetic reso...
