Management of paediatric sleep-disordered breathing
This article summarises these recommendations and outlines the important factors that indicate cases that may be more suitable for management in secondary and tertiary units. Appropriate case selection will reduce pressure on tertiary units while maintaining training opportunities in district general hospitals.PMID:38416524 | DOI:10.12968/hmed.2023.0275 (Source: British Journal of Hospital Medicine)

Ultrasonographic changes and impact factors of diaphragmatic function in patients with obstructive sleep apnea –hypopnea syndrome
ConclusionThe diaphragm is thickened and diaphragmatic contractility is decreased in OSAHS patients. Nocturnal intermittent hypoxia is a risk factor for diaphragmatic hypertrophy and impaired diaphragmatic contractility. (Source: Sleep and Breathing)

Evaluation of nocturnal apnea and airflow limitation as indicators for cognitive dysfunction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease/obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome overlap syndrome
This study revealed significant cognitive impairment in OS, OSAHS and COPD. Sleep-related indicators are warranted in OS patients for detection, differentiation and grading of cognitive impairment, whereas pulmonary functions are warranted in OSAHS patients for detection and early intervention of cognitive impairment.PMID:38411460 | DOI:10.1177/14799731241236492 (Source: Respiratory Care)

Characteristics of ADHD Symptoms and EEG Theta/Beta Ratio in Children With Sleep Disordered Breathing
Conclusion. Children with SDB showed more ADHD inattention symptoms than the healthy control. Although we found no difference in TBR among groups, we found significant main effect for NREM period. There existed a relationship between hypoxia, TBR, and scores of ADHD symptoms. Hence, it was speculated that TBR can reflect the nocturnal electrophysiological manifestations in children with SDB, which may be related to daytime ADHD symptoms.PMID:38403954 | DOI:10.1177/15500594241234828 (Source: Clinical EEG and Neuroscience)
