Sinonasal Burkitt Lymphoma in a 2-Year-Old Child: An Uncommon Case Report
We present the case of a 2-year-old boy who presented with a 2-month history of nasal obstruction, snoring, and epistaxis followed by a recent dyspnea. Examination revealed a protruding tissue mass in the left nasal cavity. Computed tomography scan showed a homogenous soft-tissue mass in the left nasal cavity extending toward the ipsilateral orbit, infratemporal fossa, nasopharynx, as well as the ethmoid and maxillary sinuses. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a homogenous infiltrating mass with a hypo-intense signal on T2-weighted images reaching the infratemporal fossa and oropharynx. Biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of ...

Long non-coding RNA FKSG29 regulates oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction in obstructive sleep apnea
Mol Cell Biochem. 2023 Nov 2. doi: 10.1007/s11010-023-04880-3. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAltered expressions of pro-/anti-oxidant genes are known to regulate the pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).We aim to explore the role of a novel long non-coding (lnc) RNA FKSG29 in the development of intermittent hypoxia with re-oxygenation (IHR)-induced endothelial dysfunction in OSA. Gene expression levels of key pro-/anti-oxidant genes, vasoactive genes, and the FKSG29 were measured in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 12 subjects with primary snoring (PS) and 36 OSA patients. Human monocytic THP-1 cells and...

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome & Glaucoma
This study suggests that the OSAHS may be an aggravating factor for glaucoma. The OSAHS –POAG association recommends IOP monitoring during CPAP therapy.Targeted and optimized screening OSAHS in glaucomatous patients will undoubtedly contribute to adequate management of this progressive optic neuropathy. Acceptance and cost-effectiveness of telemedicine in patients with obstructive sleep apnea: a single-center randomized controlled trial
This study explores the treatment acceptance rate and cost-effectiveness of the telemedicine model in the clinical diagnosis and treatment of adult patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Patients admitted to the sleep center for snoring were randomly divided into telemedicine and control groups. The acceptance rate of the auto-adjusted positive airway pressure (APAP) treatment, cost of patient visits, cost of time, and labor cost of doctors in the two groups were observed. A total of 57 subjects were included, with an average age of 40.12±11.73 years, including 47 males (82.5%); 26 of whom were in the telemedi...

Respiratory symptoms and access to physiotherapy in children with cerebral palsy in Albania
Conclusions: In Albania there is an unmet need to carry out a national cohort based study on the prevalence of CP, and respiratory symptoms in CP patients. These studies should also increase awareness among the policy makers to provide free medical services and treatment and social support for these patients. (Source: European Respiratory Journal)

Utility of overnight oximetry indices in the evaluation of children with suspected Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Conclusions: This study provides optimal cut-off values for ODI3 in differentiating PS from OSA. As overnight oximetry is cheap and widely available unlike PSG, it has the potential to be incorporated into cost-effective clinical decision making algorithms. (Source: European Respiratory Journal)

Obstructive sleep apnea and ischemic ECG changes in Mauritius
Conclusion In this population-based sample, snoring individuals had a higher prevalence of high OSA risk compared with non-snorers. A high OSA-risk was associated with ischemic ECG changes among snorers. (Source: European Respiratory Journal)
