Sleep disordered breathing and snoring in patients investigated for exercise induced laryngeal obstruction: A service evaluation
Conclusion: In our setting, the Berlin Sleep Questionnaire was a useful screening tool for the coexistence of EILO and SDB, interestingly a higher risk of OSA was reported in this sample than might be expected in age comparable general public, which should prompt research into the nature of this relationship, including objective assessment with sleep studies. Sleep-related symptoms among asthmatics in the RHINESSA study
Conclusion: Our findings suggest an interaction between gender and sleep symptoms in asthma patients. Follow-up studies are warranted to understand the association. (Source: European Respiratory Journal)

Factors influencing the CPAP therapeutic adherence in women with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)
Conclusions: The only comorbidity that was associated with poor therapeutic compliance was obesity. Daytime sleepiness as a symptom of OSA was associated with good therapeutic compliance. The adverse effects that lead to abandoning domiciliary CPAP were discomfort and pressure ulcers. (Source: European Respiratory Journal)

Identification of OSAHS patients based on ReliefF-mRMR feature selection
AbstractObstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome (OSAHS) is a serious chronic sleep disorder. Snoring is a common and easily observable symptom of OSAHS patients. The purpose of this work is to identify OSAHS patients by analyzing the acoustic characteristics of snoring sounds throughout the entire night. Ten types of acoustic features, such as Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCC), linear prediction coefficients (LPC) and spectral entropy among others, were extracted from the snoring sounds. A fused feature selection algorithm based on ReliefF and Max-Relevance and Min-Redundancy (mRMR) was proposed for optimal feat...

Correlation analysis of cardiopulmonary exercise test indices and conditions of overweight patients with obstructive sleep apnea: a retrospective study
CONCLUSION: Changes in CPET indices occurred earlier than changes in resting pulmonary function in patients with OSA. CPET might be a potential method for evaluating the severity of OSA combined with overweight status.PMID:37851780 | DOI:10.1590/1516-3180.2022.0264.R2.010623 (Source: Sao Paulo Medical Journal)
