MicroRNA-503-5p protects streptozotocin-induced erectile dysfunction in diabetic rats by downregulating SYDE2
This study aimed to figure out microRNA (miR)-503-5p/SYDE2 axis' latent mechanisms in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rat sexual dysfunction. A model of erectile dysfunction (ED) in diabetic rats was established by injecting streptozotocin. MiR-503-5p and SYDE2 in ED rats were altered by injection of miR-503-5p mimic or si/oe-SYDE2. The targeting link between miR-503-5p and SYDE2 was testified. ICP/MAP value was tested by pressure sensor; Penile capillary abundance was assessed; Penile cGMP and AGEs were detected; penile smooth muscle cell apoptosis was assessed; MiR-503-5p and SYDE2 were tested. In streptozotocin-induced ...

Invasive neurostimulation in neuro-urology: state of the art
Aktuelle Urol. 2024 Apr 17. doi: 10.1055/a-2261-4792. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTModulation or stimulation of the nerves supplying the lower urinary tract is a possible treatment option for dysfunction of the lower urinary tract, pelvic floor and rectum if conservative or minimally invasive treatment approaches fail. This overview shows the possibilities and limitations of sacral neuromodulation, sacral deafferentation with sacral anterior root stimulation and conus deafferentation.Sacral neuromodulation (SNM) is a procedure for the treatment of refractory pelvic floor dysfunction of various origins (idiopathic, neuroge...

Efficacy of a web-based psychoeducational intervention, Fex-can sex, for young adult childhood cancer survivors with sexual dysfunction: A randomized controlled trial
CONCLUSION: The Fex-Can Sex intervention shows potential to improve sexual function, especially among those with greater dysfunction. To increase adherence and effect, we recommend the intervention to be further developed including more tailored content.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION: ISRCTN Registry, trial number: 33081791 (registered on November 27, 2019).PMID:38623084 | PMC:PMC11016752 | DOI:10.1016/j.invent.2024.100739 (Source: Cancer Control)

Validation of Qualisex questionnaire to evaluate sexual dysfunction in women affected by fibromyalgia
CONCLUSIONS: This study validated Qualisex questionnaire as a good test for the sexual disorders' evaluation in FM women. Its use allows the assessment of different factors associated with sexual dysfunction, showing an impact of FM on sexuality. Moreover, due to demotivation feelings, sexual dysfunction contributes to worsen patients' quality of life.PMID:38607686 | DOI:10.55563/clinexprheumatol/a00yur (Source: Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology)

Attitudes and practice patterns of Finnish obstetrician-gynecologists regarding patients' sexual problems
Sexuality is an important aspect of quality of life [1,2]. However, sexual problems are common, with the prevalence of female sexual dysfunction (FSD) ranging from 40  % to 50 %, irrespective of age [3]. Many different health care professionals—for instance, certified nurses, sexuality educators, sexuality counselors, and sexuality therapists, as well as physicians in various fields—take part in the management of sexual problems. Obstetrician-gynecologist s (OB/GYNs) are some of the key health care professionals who diagnose and treat female sexual problems, but previous studies have reported that OB/GYNs underesti...
