Is 40 years old too late to start down the path of doctorhood?
TLDR: 40 years old, BA degree (few/old STEM classes), fear of cost & lost wages, but eager to pursue a higher-purpose calling.

40-minute weekly patient visits including therapy.
I don't know if there is more time for initial visits.
There's a 10-25% incentive bonus at the end of the year. No benefits. I have a full time 40-hour job planned already.
$10,000 Sign-On Bonus
$157,500 Annual Base Salary for a 1099 engagement of 20 clinical hours per week

East Texas, starting salary > 500, 14 weeks off
We have several positions open in Longview TX due to retirement and people relocating.
Looking to staff up to 10 anesthesiologists, currently have six full time, one part time, and three locums.
Starting salary over $500k W2 regardless of experience. Sign-on bonus, CME fund, malpractice paid.

Marriage worth it?
Recently finished training. 35M. Going to be making more than I could ever imagine in salary. Never married, no kids. I'm enjoying the freedom of being single in a coastal city at this time. I'm starting to feel like marriage might be more of a financial risk/potentially mistake at this point. Playing the field has never been easier with dating apps. Lifestyle vs passion: psych or inpatient peds
Extremely down to the wire on this. Planning on maybe dual applying peds and psych (to do child psych). Have a passion for inpatient peds, but like child psych/adult psych enough to want to do it well.
Peds pros:
-Love inpatient work and the diversity of the cases
-The kids often get better and the families for the most part are very grateful
-Really great team environment, very positive environment overall
-Always left in a good mood from the shift

How are Resident IMG ’s paying their healthcare bills ?
The place that I come from has the employees health scheme where a resident pays insurance amount as part of their monthly deductions from their monthly stipend. I wonder what it is like for a Non-US IMG doing their residency in US ? I hear the health care is costly in the US and how are you guys managing it ?
