CMO salaries
So I have been a medical director for a number of years, with significant administrative duties. I have thought about moving up the ladder, and have been offered a few chief medical officer positions, albeit in locations that I am not interested in due to geographical preferences in the midwest where my family is in. I'm hoping to find a CMO position locally one day, but they seem to come by infrequently in my area. Granted had it not been for location, I'd probably would have gone with... Questions to ask hospital employed first anesthesia job?
Hey All, Have some interviews coming up. The majority of places I'll be interviewing at are hospital employed. Salary, benefits, are relatively straightforward and explained pretty well in the benefits package. What are some of the other real important questions you wished you asked on some of your first job interviews? I'm going to focus more on the culture of the group, who makes the call schedule, how fairly cases are assigned, etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but I would imagine a lot of... Is there any way I can get physician job recruiting emails as a med student?
I'm gonna guess the answer is probably no, but I think it would interesting to see in real time what salaries are like for my chosen specialty. The more I learn about the details of physician compensation, things like MGMA report don't really convey what X specialty compensation is like *right now*. Again, this is purely for curiosity, but if there was a way I could verify that I am a future MD to a recruiter, and give them an alt email address to see all of these offers, that would be... Inflation Reduction Act Impact on Oncology Reimbursement
Hello, first-time poster on this forum, I'm creating this thread to ask a question about the impact of the recently passed (2022) Inflation Reduction Act on heme/onc compensation. Some caveats, I know predicting future compensation is always difficult and not a reason to choose/not choose a sub-specialty, but I do want to be as informed as possible as I consider a future career path. From what I understand, much of the compensation in Heme/Onc that accounts for the high salary for a... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Future Job outlook for Oral Surgeons
Hey guys. I’m a Dental student at UAB, and I am wondering what yalls thoughts are on the future job outlook and salary potential for oral surgeons With the rise of the “Super GP” dentist, and general dentists desiring to push into more surgical work like grafting, implants, and removing thirds, how do y’all expect this to affect referrals to and demand for oral surgeons. The path to surgery is very long and difficult, and I’m considering taking it, but do not want to put all the work in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

VIRMP Choosing Internships
I am looking for some advice from anyone willing to help! I am applying for a SA Rotating this next cycle and already started looking at places so I can have an idea of where I am interested prior to 4th year clinics. I'm interested in Anesthesiology post internship and have a list of maybe 40 places that would have boarded anesthesiologists on staff while I am there. On this list I made note of the average cost of living according to VIRMP and am comparing it to the salaries and based on... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Hourly W2 vs 1099 when interviewing
For the upcoming grads interviewing or just working their first job: Who knows their true hourly rate W2 when working days, past 5pm, or on standby? Who gets quoted 1099 fake “salaries”? Explained the exact number of call hours and backup committed by contract? Point it out and have them give you a spreadsheet with breakdown of a real take home compensation package for hours committed. And that’s on the contract. Compare apples to apples. Not old school nebulous salaries and just here to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is specialization financially worth it in the long run?
I know this is a very broad, even dumb question, but as still a layman (D1) I would like any kind of feedback if possible. I was just thinking that we all know salary is usually higher for specialties, but it occurred to me that there are also: 1) accruing interest from four-year tuition 2) extra 2-3 years of tuition (depending on the program; let's exclude OMFS for now...) 3) the salary you could've made as a GP during those 2-3 years. My math may not be right, but I hope you understand... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
