Rad Onc NP ’s/PA’s in Non-Academic Settings
How do NP’s/PA’s benefit private practice and hospital employed Rad Oncs? More specifically in terms of: PATIENT CARE (how do patients benefit from seeing an NP instead of the Rad Onc, is it simply “well it’s either NP or no one so at least patient gets to see someone?”), TIME (do they really improve efficiency?), FINANCES (does hiring an NP for ~$80,000 or more end up benefiting the Rad Onc in terms of productivity and ultimately his/her salary to the extent that the $80,000 or so leads... If I work as a hospitalist doing 7 on/7 off, what are ways that I can maximize my income and earn more money?
I recently decided to be a hospitalist and ditch my previous plans of pursuing pulm/crit fellowship. I want to move back home to Orange County, California because that’s where my entire life is. I realize that the cost of living in Southern California is already expensive and the taxes are high, not to mention that as a hospitalist fresh out of residency, I anticipate I’ll probs be making a salary of like $250k before taxes. My question is what things can a hospitalist who works 7 on/7... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

PP CRNA salary more than Academic Anesthesiologists
I've been interviewing at some academic institutions. The salary is so shamefully low its embarrassing. I know private practice CRNA's that make more than the salary that is offered at these places. In my opinion, no amount of Ivy Leage prestige can suffice for a lesser educated, less trained mid-level provider earning more than us. Why do we need all these years of education then? Is the crisis that is hitting Emergency Medicine bound for Anesthesia next? Over 500 unfilled spots in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should i ask for more money? 1st pharmacist job offer
I will graduate in May 2023 and got an offer from Walgreens today for an annual salary of $132,300 (around 63.50/hour). The offer seems pretty competitive as a new grad and slightly higher than other offerings to my area that were extended to classmates. I am wondering if I should still ask to negotiate to a higher pay, perhaps up to $65/hour or closer to $135K? As a new pharmacist I am not sure how much room there is to negotiate but anything to help pay off my loans faster would be nice. I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Transplant Nephrology
Hi guys, second year resident who is interested in transplant nephrology. Love in the interdisciplinary interaction with other medical teams especially surgery as well as all the medicine that is involved (nephrology, immunology, BP management, infectious disease). Was wondering if anyone has an idea what the job market is like for transplant nephrology, the average salary, inpatient vs. outpatient split, and lifestyle in general. Thank you! Neuro Critical Care Salary
Hello, just matched neurology! I was wondering if the NCC pathways offers a higher salary at the end of the fellowship; I love CC and neurology, but I wouldn’t do a 2 year fellowship if it didn’t pay significantly more… I have 300K in student loans here lol. There’s limited data on this; I found some saying 350,000; but I say for it to be worth it, the pay should be inline with Pulm/CC (350-450). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contract change
Maybe someone can help me out here. So I’ve been at my job for 4.5 years. I work at a small hospital in a small rural town in Iowa. This is my first job out of residency, so still wet behind the ears when it comes to contracts and compensation. So during CoVid our competitor bought the hospital where I work and combined the two campuses to form a “Sole Hospital“ in doing so they switched to a completely different compensation model than when I started. We are going from a base salary plus... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Cost of CRNA with 3:1 coverage
So I am calculating the cost of a CRNA including the Anesthesiologist at 3:1. What I came up with is $300k for the CRNA including benefits, plus 1/3 of the Anesthesiologist including benefits $500k /3= $166k. So a total of $466k per year for a covered CRNA. Obviously the numbers change with the salaries but does anyone have a more nuanced view. $466k per year for the CRNA? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Residents in NYC?
I know this forum is generally for medical residencies, but I matched to a 3-year dental residency at NYU in Brooklyn and am curious to hear from anyone who has lived/done residency in Brooklyn with a family. I’ve got a wife and two daughters. Rent is pretty expensive so I’m curious to know where people have lived and resources used to find a good place, and how to get approved with the relatively low income for NYC. My salary will be $63k/ year and most places I’ve seen are... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Appropriate time to inquire about salary
Couple of questions: 1. When should I inquire about salary when looking for private practice groups? On the initial recruiter call? On the first telephone/zoom interview? Or wait till the in-person site interview? 2. How long does it take on average for a practice to interview you after they've expressed interest? There are a couple of practices that reached out to me saying they reviewed my CV and would like to interview me, asking for availabilities. I gave my availabilities but it's... Attending vs MBB: Lucrative consulting exits/career paths?
Hello everyone, I'm currently in my last year of ER residency. During residency, I completed a summer internship at an MBB firm and got a return offer for after residency. I have two questions for SDN: First, what are everyone's thoughts on taking the consulting FTO vs ER attending? Primary motivators are impact and monetary. ER attending would be fewer hours, better salary, and more time to travel and work on side hustles. Consulting upsides seem to be that the sky is the limit...
