RVU math.. am i doing this right ?
looking for my first job at the moment and i've been trying to make sure i dont end up getting suckered into a contract i dont fully understand. I will be interviewing at an academic facility in a major metropolitan area for an outpatient position with a mix of dual diagnosis patients. Pay for first 2 years is a gaurenteed base, however it then turns into pure RVU based system. So I want to be able to guage what my estimated salary would be once it turns to that. so my understanding is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Private Lab owner income?
What would be the take home earnings range for an owner of a small to medium sized private reference lab? I have worked in several labs with gross revenues approaching the 10s of millions, but company revenues versus expenses at the town halls have often been break even. My dream is to someday own a small laboratory operation of my own specializing in hemepath, but I’m having a hard time believing I can turn a profit or take home a positive salary. Any perspective or thoughts? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Nocturnist offer
Would love to hear your thoughts: $160/hr for 12 hrs; 7 days on/7 days off Total of 182 shifts each year 15k bonus sign on (2 year contract) RVU bonus available No procedures needed but if comfortable can do and bill. Manage floor admissions, closed icu. So yearly salary is 349k? Fairly competitive, heard from staff that you can easily do more shifts if I wanted, many are breaking 400k without a few extra shifts a month. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Reasonable salary breakdown
I am asking very generally… what % breakdown is reasonable to expect and/or common, in terms of base + wRVU? Is one’s salary often 50/50; base/production? Or is it skewed a lot more towards production? If a hospital offers 300k+ production, what is the final salary one could expect on average, assuming they generate an average amount of RVU? Of course the real answer is that it depends, but I’d appreciate any general inputs on this topic. Thanks in advance. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Joining Navy after graduating civilian residency
Hello and happy new year! I'm currently finishing up a 1 year AEGD program and will be starting a prosthodontic residency later this July 2023, both civilian, expected graduation 2026. I've been thinking ahead about what I would like to do after training and am considering going the military route, particularly the Navy. Part-time vs full-time cardiology
Hi all, Hate to start a new thread but couldn't find much info on this topic. Anyway, what is the general impression when someone (especially a female) wants to work part-time as a noninvasive cardiologist fresh out of fellowship? I am interested in private practice but am open to semi-private or academic if it means a better lifestyle. Location and lifestyle are more important to me than salary. If it helps, looking to move to an urban, highly populated area in California. I only ask... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Neurocrit care lifestyle and burnout
It seems like neurocrit has a high burnout rate; what factors contribute to this? Atleast at my institution I feel stroke attendings get calls at night more often than the neurocrit ones- and the neurocrit attendings do a 1 week on, 2 week off schedule (there’s 3 in total), plus admin stuff on one of their week off (and fully off third week). That seems pretty good especially since the starting salary at my institute is $280k (heard it from them) which is definitely on the higher side for an... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is John Pinto's private practice lecture series still accurate?
Came across this series from 2017, and was honestly surprised at some of the numbers he listed for mid career salaries, found in the "contract negotiation" video. John Pinto's Ophthalmology Business Management Series J. Pinto & Associates, Inc. John Pinto is the country's most-published author on the subject of ophthalmic practice management. Mr. Pinto's Business Management Seminar is posted on EyeRounds with the very kind permission of John Pinto who reserves all rights to these works. webeye.ophth.uiowa.edu ...
