Contrast-enhanced ultrasound in evaluating the severity of acute kidney injury: An animal experimental study
CONCLUSIONS: CEUS based on VCAM-1 TM can evaluate renal microcirculation perfusion and inflammatory response in mild and severe AKI, which may provide helpful information for assessing the severity of AKI.PMID:37718787 | DOI:10.3233/CH-231940

Intraoperative indocyanine green angiography for predicting postoperative hypoparathyroidism
CONCLUSION: NIR fluorescent imaging with intraoperative PG ICG angiography is a safe and an easily repeatable method. This technique provides improved detecting and assessment of the perfusion of the PG. The need for autotransplantation of the PG can be determined more objectively using ICG imaging than simple visualization.PMID:37721589 | DOI:10.1007/s00464-023-10466-3

Nutrition for critically ill children with congenital heart disease
Nutr Clin Pract. 2023 Oct;38 Suppl 2:S158-S173. doi: 10.1002/ncp.11046.ABSTRACTChildren with congenital heart disease often require admission to the cardiac intensive care unit at some point in their lives, either after elective surgical or catheter-based procedures or during times of acute critical illness. Meeting both the macronutrient and micronutrient needs of children in the cardiac intensive care unit requires complex decision-making when considering gastrointestinal perfusion, vasoactive support, and fluid balance goals. Although nutrition guidelines exist for critically ill children, these cannot always be extrapo...

Assessment of brainstem function and haemodynamics by MRI: challenges and clinical prospects
Br J Radiol. 2023 Sep 18:20220940. doi: 10.1259/bjr.20220940. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMRI offers techniques for non-invasively measuring a range of aspects of brain tissue function. Blood oxygenation level dependent (BOLD) functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is widely used to assess neural activity, based on the brain's haemodynamic response, while arterial spin labelling (ASL) MRI is a non-invasive method of quantitatively mapping cerebral perfusion. Both techniques can be applied to measure cerebrovascular reactivity (CVR), an important marker of the health of the cerebrovascular system. BOLD, ASL and CVR ...

Improved diagnostic accuracy for coronary artery disease detection with quantitative 3D < sup > 82 < /sup > Rb PET myocardial perfusion imaging
CONCLUSIONS: Normal databases tailored to 3D PET images provide significantly improved diagnostic accuracy for PET MPI evaluation with automated quantitative TPD. Clinical application of these techniques should be considered to support accurate image interpretation.PMID:37721579 | DOI:10.1007/s00259-023-06414-x

Role of TRPV1 in electroacupuncture-mediated signal to the primary sensory cortex during regulation of the swallowing function
CONCLUSION: The TRPV1 at CV23 after EA treatment might play a key role in mediating local blood perfusion but was not involved in transferring EA signals to the central nervous system (CNS). These findings collectively suggested that TRPV1 may be one of the important regulators involved in the mechanism of EA treatment for improving swallowing function in PSD.PMID:37718934 | DOI:10.1111/cns.14457

Comparing the effectiveness of novel high-end compression garment with common compression garment and kinesio tape in preventing edema and improving tissue perfusion in lower extremities
CONCLUSION: The novel bandage showed a statistically significant reduction in edema when compared intraindividually, but no statistically significant advantage was found when compared with the other compression garment B and kinesio tape.Despite the widespread use of kinesio tape, we did not find any improvement in the range of motion, edema prevention and circulation in the lower limb after application of kinesio tape.PMID:37718791 | DOI:10.3233/CH-238111
