Transient impacts of UV-B irradiation on whole body regeneration in a colonial urochordate
Dev Biol. 2023 Aug 22:S0012-1606(23)00145-8. doi: 10.1016/j.ydbio.2023.08.006. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWithin the chordates, only some colonial ascidians experience whole body regeneration (WBR), where amputated small colonial fragments containing blood-vessels have the capability to regenerate the entire functional adult zooid within 1-3 weeks. Studying WBR in small colonial fragments taken at different blastogenic stages (the weekly developmental process characteristic to botryllid ascidians) from the ascidian Botrylloides leachii, about half of the fragments were able to complete regeneration (cWBR) three weeks fo...

Experiential Aspects of Participation in Employment and Mobility for Adults with Physical Disabilities: Testing Cross-Sectional Models of Contextual Influences and Well-Being Outcomes

Intrapersonal and environmental factors may play a role in optimizing participation experiences in employment and mobility which, in turn, may lead to better well-being and life satisfaction. These results emphasize the importance of conceptualizing participation from an experiential perspective and provide a basis for advancing theory and practice to understand and improve the participation experiences and well-being of adults living with physical disabilities.PMID:37607656 | DOI:10.1016/j.apmr.2023.08.004

The Current Status of Prolonged Breastfeeding and Its Related Factors in Korean Infants and Their Mothers: A Nationwide Cross-Sectional Study
CONCLUSIONS: In Korea, the long-term BF rate of ≥ 12 months has declined in the past 10 years, and BF becomes rare after 18 months. Higher maternal interest in nutrition information appears to be driving access to PBF over 12 months than EBF for 6 months or PBF over 18 months. To promote PBF over 12 months in Korea, it may be helpful to strengthen nutrition education that specifically emphasizes the benefits of PBF along with EBF, especially during infant health examinations.PMID:37605500 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e261
