Front Clin Diabetes Healthc. 2023 Aug 30;4:1218692. doi: 10.3389/fcdhc.2023.1218692. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTType 2 diabetes (T2D) has been rising in prevalence over the past few decades in the US and worldwide. T2D contributes to significant morbidity and premature mortality, primarily due to cardiovascular disease (CVD). Addressing Economic Abuse in Intimate-partner Violence Interventions: A Bacchian Analysis of Responsibility
ConclusionsWe argue that most interventions individualise the prevention of and recovery from economic abuse, promoting women ’s self-improvement through financial literacy, economic empowerment, and education as responses to economic violence, rather than making male perpetrators accountable for the harm they cause. This gap in existing interventions reveals an opportunity for financial and government institutions to ac t through transformative structural reform that disrupts – rather than responds to – male perpetration of economic abuse.

Toxicological analysis of metals content in agro-food wastes as possible supplement in animal feed
Nat Prod Res. 2023 Sep 14:1-6. doi: 10.1080/14786419.2023.2257361. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe agro-food surplus is considered the most abundant renewable resource, interesting for the economic and environmental impact, with a possible employment in different productive fields such as supplement in animal feed. For a safe and effective enhancement of agro-food wastes it is needed a toxicological analysis before of their employment, to avoid potential risks to animals, humans and environment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the metals content (Cu, Fe, Zn, Mg, Na, K, Ca, Mn, Se, Zn, Co, Ni, V, Sb, Mo, Cr and ...

Work Participation after Multimodal Rehabilitation due to Cardiovascular Diseases - Representative Analyses using Routine Data of the German Pension Insurance
CONCLUSION: For the first time, representative data on occupational participation following rehabilitation on behalf of the GPI are available for the disease groups considered. The analyses underline the need to focus on occupational perspectives already in medical rehabilitation or directly thereafter.PMID:37709287 | DOI:10.1055/a-2133-2552

Depressive Symptoms and Blood Pressure in African American Women: A Secondary Analysis From the Intergenerational Impact of Genetic and Psychological Factors on Blood Pressure Study
CONCLUSION: Depressive symptoms were not associated with hypertension prevalence at T4, but they were associated with higher estimated marginal SBP and DBP. Future research is needed to elucidate mechanisms and implications for clinical care and prevention.PMID:37707976 | DOI:10.1097/JCN.0000000000000800

Patients' long-term perspectives on gains and losses after temporal lobe resection for epilepsy
CONCLUSIONS: Presurgical hopes go beyond seizure freedom and memory and naming problems are experienced lasting many years after surgery in the temporal lobe. Better preoperative information, particularly about unwanted cognitive effects, is of prime importance. By exploring patientś presurgical hopes, a common ground for expectations on surgery may be found along with strategies on how to cope with cognitive difficulties and possible negative life changes.PMID:37703614 | DOI:10.1016/j.yebeh.2023.109400

Hypnosis in the treatment of retrograde cricopharyngeus dysfunction: A case report
Am J Clin Hypn. 2023 Sep 13:1-7. doi: 10.1080/00029157.2023.2249535. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTRetrograde cricopharyngeus dysfunction (R-CPD) causes an inability to belch. This case report describes the successful treatment of R-CPD with the use of hypnosis. Thereafter, the patient was able to burp small amounts of air, and was encouraged to continue his use of hypnosis as needed. Hypnosis and possibly other noninvasive treatments should be used for R-CPD before employment of more invasive and costly treatments such as botulinum toxin administration.PMID:37703128 | DOI:10.1080/00029157.2023.2249535

Early COVID-Related pandemic impacts and subsequent opioid outcomes among persons receiving medication for opioid use disorder: a secondary data analysis of a Type-3 hybrid trial
CONCLUSIONS: Mitigating the effect of the pandemic on patients' interpersonal relationships and employment, and promoting greater infection control in opioid treatment programs, could be protective against negative opioid-related outcomes. Trial registration The present study describes secondary data analysis on a previously registered clinical trial: clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT03931174.PMID:37705105 | PMC:PMC10500804 | DOI:10.1186/s13722-023-00409-7
