Calendar ageing modelling using machine learning: an experimental investigation on lithium ion battery chemistries
Conclusions: For an electric vehicle battery calendar ageing prediction application, XGBoost can establish itself as the primary choice more easily compared to ANN. The reason is XGBoost's error rates and fitting performance are more usable for such application especially for Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide and Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide chemistries, which are amongst the most demanded cell chemistries for electric vehicle battery packs.PMID:37645330 | PMC:PMC10446031 | DOI:10.12688/openreseurope.14745.2

Quantification of lithium in molten chlorides by optical emission spectrometry using a novel molten-salt-electrode microplasma source
Talanta. 2023 Aug 24;266(Pt 2):125111. doi: 10.1016/j.talanta.2023.125111. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA new molten-salt-electrode microplasma (MSEMP) source for optical emission spectrometry (OES) was constructed, equipped with a molten salt electrode and a metal hollow tube (fed with helium) counter electrode. The use of the MSEMP-OES for constituent analysis of molten salt was primarily evaluated. The acquirement of characteristic spectral lines of some elements in several molten chloride samples verified the good qualitative ability of the proposed MSEMP-OES. Solid copper was dissolved via charge transfer and excited...

Facile one pot three component synthesis, characterization, and molecular docking simulations of novel α-aminophosphonate derivatives based pyrazole moiety as potential antimicrobial agent
Chem Biodivers. 2023 Aug 30:e202301035. doi: 10.1002/cbdv.202301035. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAn efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of novel α-aminophosphonates (AAP) (3a-m) through a one-pot three-component reaction of 1,3-disubstituted-1H-pyrazol-5-amine, aromatic aldehydes, and phosphite using lithium perchlorate as catalyst. All newly synthesized compounds were characterized via different spectroscopic techniques. The synthesized compounds' mode of action was investigated using molecular docking against the outer membrane protein A (OMPA) and exo-1,3-beta-glucanase, with interpreting their phar...

Catalytic Graphitization of Biocarbon for Lithium-Ion Anodes: A Minireview
ChemSusChem. 2023 Aug 29:e202300729. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202300729. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe demand for electrochemical energy storage is increasing rapidly due to a combination of decreasing costs in renewable electricity, governmental policies promoting electrification, and a desire by the public to decrease CO2 emissions. Lithium-ion batteries are the leading form of electrochemical energy storage for electric vehicles and the electrical grid. Lithium-ion cell anodes are mostly made of graphite, which is derived from geographically constrained, non-renewable resources using energy-intensive and highly polluting p...

Investigation of cyanine-based infrared dyes as calibrants in radiochromic films
CONCLUSIONS: IR-783 and IR-806 dyes were observed to degrade over time following exponential decay curves. IR-806 could not be combined with the LiPCDA without degrading. The combination of IR-783 with LiPCDA demonstrated single exponential decay behavior at a comparatively faster rate than films that did not have LiPCDA. IR-783 was insensitive to ionizing radiation and thus may be suitable for thickness correction, but an alternative manufacturing procedure may need to be developed.PMID:37633840 | DOI:10.1002/mp.16674
