Lithium polyacrylate as lithium and carbon source in the synthesis of Li3VO4for high-rate and long-life Li-ion batteries
ChemSusChem. 2023 Aug 9:e202300979. doi: 10.1002/cssc.202300979. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLi3VO4 is a promising anode material for use in lithium-ion batteries, however, the conventional synthesis methods for Li3VO4 anodes involve the separate use of lithium and carbon sources, resulting in inefficient contact and low crystalline quality. Herein, we utilized lithium polyacrylate (LiPAA) as a dual-functional source and employed an in-situ polymerization followed by a spray-drying method to synthesize Li3VO4. LiPAA serves a dual purpose, acting as both a lithium source to improve the crystal process and a carbon source ...

Chem Asian J. 2023 Aug 9:e202300336. doi: 10.1002/asia.202300336. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs post-lithium ion batteries, both sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) and potassium ion batteries (PIBs) possess great potential for large scale energy storage. However, the application of both SIBs and PIBs are hindered by the lack of suitable electrode materials. Here, we synthesized the sulfur decorated Ti3 C2 Tx (S-T3 C2 Tx ) MXene as electrode material for SIBs and PIBs. Thanks to the sulfur functional group and the formation of Ti-S bond, which facilitates the sodium in-/desertion and strengthens the potassium ion adsorption abi...

An Increase in Peroxiredoxin 6 Expression Induces Neurotoxic A1 Astrocytes in the Lumbar Spinal Cord of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Mice Model
In this study, we observed that the expression of peroxiredoxin 6 (PRDX6), a member of the peroxiredoxin family, was markedly upregulated in astrocytes of the lumbar spinal cord of SOD1G93A mice model for ALS. Additionally, when PRDX6 was transiently transfected into the mouse astrocyte cell line C8-D1A and human astrocytoma cell line U-251 MG, the mRNA expression of complement C3 (a marker for A1 astrocyte phenotype) and inflammatory cytokines was increased. Furthermore, the mRNA expression of C3 and inflammatory cytokine was increased in C8-D1A and U-251 MG cells stably expressing PRDX6, and the increased mRNA expression...

Hybrid Sub-1 nm Nanosheets of Co-assembled MnZnCuOx and Polyoxometalate Clusters as Anodes for Li-ion Batteries
Angew Chem Int Ed Engl. 2023 Aug 8:e202309934. doi: 10.1002/anie.202309934. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHybrid Sub-1 nm Nanosheets of Co-assembled MnZnCuOx and Polyoxometalate Clusters as Anodes for Li-ion BatteriesTransition metal oxide (TMO) anode materials in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) usually suffer from serious volume expansion leading to the pulverization of structures, further giving rise to lower specific capacity and worse cycling stability. Herein, by introducing polyoxometalate (POM) clusters into TMOs and precisely controlling the amount of POMs, the MnZnCuOx-phosphomolybdic acid hybrid sub-1 nm nanosheets ...

Anion-tethered Single Lithium-ion Conducting Polyelectrolytes through UV-induced Free Radical Polymerization for Improved Morphological Stability of Lithium Metal Anodes
In this study, we fabricated a SIC electrolyte using a single-step UV polymerization approach. The resulting electrolyte exhibited a high Li+ transference number (t+) of 0.85 and demonstrated good Li+ conductivity (6.3×10-5 S/cm at room temperature), which is comparable to that of a benchmark dual ion conductor (DIC, 9.1×10-5 S/cm). Benefitting from the high transference number of SIC, it displayed a three-fold higher critical current density (2.4 mA/cm2) compared to DIC (0.8 mA/cm2) by successfully suppressing concentration polarization-induced short-circuiting. Additionally, the t+ significantly influenced the depositi...
