Risk factor identification and prediction models for prolonged length of stay in hospital after acute ischemic stroke using artificial neural networks
ConclusionThe artificial neural network model achieved adequate discriminative power for predicting prolonged length of stay after acute ischemic stroke and identified crucial factors associated with a prolonged hospital stay. The proposed model can assist in clinically assessing the risk of prolonged hospitalization, informing decision-making, and developing individualized medical care plans for patients with acute ischemic stroke.

28675 A case of systemic amyloidosis diagnosed by dermatologic consult
A 49-year-old male with PMH of hypertension and diabetes was admitted to the neurology ICU following thrombolytic therapy for left MCA occlusive thrombus. Dermatology was consulted for desquamation of the lower lip, lateral tongue, and bruising of the eyelid and cheeks. Patient originally presented to outside hospital with bilateral lower extremity swelling and shortness of breath. BNP and troponins were elevated, and ACS protocol was initiated. He had stroke-like symptoms while at the outside facility and CT showed MCA occlusive thrombus.

Plasma Kallikrein Contributes to Intracerebral Hemorrhage and Hypertension in Stroke-Prone Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats
This report investigates the role of PKa on hemorrhage and hypertension in stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRSP). SHRSP were fed with a high salt-containing stroke-prone diet to increase blood pressure and induce intracerebral hemorrhage. Thrombolytic therapy for pulmonary embolism
CONCLUSIONS: Low-certainty evidence suggests that thrombolytics may reduce death following acute pulmonary embolism compared with heparin (the effectiveness was mainly driven by one trial with massive PE). Thrombolytic therapy may be helpful in reducing the recurrence of pulmonary emboli but may cause more major and minor haemorrhagic events, including haemorrhagic stroke.
