The impact of cerebrovascular disease in Panama
ConclusionSince 2013, both hospitals' intravenous thrombolytic therapy program has been successfully applied as public health policy. A successful campaign on healthy lifestyle must be strengthened through a comprehensive approach with other public sectors in order to have an impact on the population, particularly in children and adolescents.

Relationship Between ST-Segment Recovery and Clinical Outcomes After Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: The HORIZONS-AMI ECG Substudy Report Myocardial Infarction
Conclusions— In this large international study, absent STR 60 minutes after primary PCI was present in 1 in 5 patients with ST-segment–elevation myocardial infarction and was a significant independent predictor of major adverse cardiovascular events and target vessel revascularization at 3 years. We report 2 cases of chronic superior sagittal sinus thrombosis causing isolated intracranial hypertension. The patients were treated with intrasinus thrombolytic therapy.

Smoking-Thrombolysis Paradox: Recanalization and Reperfusion Rates After Intravenous Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Smokers With Ischemic Stroke Original Contributions
Conclusions— Smoking is independently associated with recanalization and reperfusion, indicating that thrombolytic therapy acts more effectively in smokers; because of small numbers, these results should be considered preliminary. Predictors of In-hospital Mortality and the Risk of Symptomatic Intracerebral Hemorrhage after Thrombolytic Therapy with Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Acute Ischemic Stroke
This study aimed to determine the independent predictors of in-hospital mortality (IHM) and the risk of sICH after rt-PA therapy. A total of 1007 patients (mean age, 72 ± 12 years; 52% women; mean National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale [NIHSS] score, 11.6 ± 5.6) with AIS treated with rt-PA were enrolled in this study during a 42-month period beginning in November 2007.
