Risk Factors for Postischemic Stroke Epilepsy in Young Adults: A Nationwide Population-Based Study in Taiwan
ConclusionsStroke severity, aphasia, malignancy, and drug abuse were associated increased risk of PSE and statin use may protect against PSE in young adults. Reducing the severity of stroke, statin use and controlling unhealthy behaviors might be able to decrease the development of PSE. Since PSE is associated with poor outcomes, early identification or intervention of PSE based on the risk factors might reduce the harmful effects of PSE.

Processes and outcomes of ischemic stroke care: the influence of hospital level of care
Conclusions Outcomes among patients with ischemic stroke can be improved by thrombolytic therapy, antithrombotic therapy, statin treatment and rehabilitation assessment. Among patients with ischemic stroke, admission to designated stroke center hospitals may be associated with lower mortality through better processes of care.

ConclusionsIn acute ischemic stroke, patients receiving late statin treatment carried a poorer clinical outcome than those with earlier statin initiation. Inhospital statin use after an acute ischemic stroke did not increase the risk of cerebral hemorrhage.

Mildly Abnormal Lipid Levels, but Not High Lipid Variability, Are Associated with Increased Risk of Myocardial Infarction and Stroke in 'Statin-Naive' Young Population: A Nationwide Cohort Study.
Conclusions: Mildly abnormal baseline lipid levels were associated with an increased future risk of ASCVD events, particularly MI, whereas measures of lipid variability were not. Uninsured Patients May Lack Diagnoses for Chronic Diseases That Are Known Stroke Risk Predictors (P2.140)
CONCLUSIONS:In our population, uninsured patients were significantly less likely to have risk factors for stroke based on past medical history. However, the same population had the higher prevalence of systolic hypertension and elevated LDL on admission and were not taking medications at home. Myocardial Infarction, Stroke, and All-Cause Mortality According to Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol Level in the Elderly, a Nationwide Study
CONCLUSION: Among the elderly, lower LDL-C was associated with decreased risks of MI and stroke. Lower LDL-C achieved by statins in the elderly was associated with a decreased risk of all-cause death during follow-up, suggesting that LDL-C paradox for the premature death risk in the elderly should not be applied to statin users.
