Predictive Value of CHA2DS2-VASc Score in Patients with Contrast-Induced Nephropathy After Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention for ST-Elevated Myocardial Infarction
CONCLUSION: Our current study showed that the CHA2DS2-VASc risk score has an effective discriminating power in determining the contrast-induced nephropathy development and a score ≥2 defines the group at risk in patients presenting with ST-elevation myocardial infarction and underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention. Moreover, contrast-induced nephropathy development is associated with longer coronary care unit stay and major adverse cardiac events (in-hospital decompensated heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and mortality).PMID:36916809 | DOI:10.5543/tkda.2022.46994

Short-term risk of periprocedural stroke relative to radial vs. femoral access: systematic review, meta-analysis, study sequential analysis and meta-regression of 2,188,047 real-world cardiac catheterizations
CONCLUSION: Periprocedural stroke remains a rare and hard-to-predict adverse event associated with cardiac catheterization. Systemic blood pressure in severe aortic stenosis: Haemodynamic correlates and long ‐term prognostic impact
ConclusionsIn severe AS patients, lower MAP reflects lower systemic vascular resistance and valvulo-arterial impedance, which may help to preserve stroke volume and filling pressures despite reduced left ventricular performance, and lower MAP is a predictor of higher long-term post-AVR mortality.

Elevated plasma WIF ‐1 levels are associated with worse prognosis in heart failure with pulmonary hypertension
ConclusionsThe present study demonstrated that LHF-PH patients have higher plasma WIF-1 levels than healthy controls, suggesting that plasma WIF-1 may be a potential future prognostic biomarker in LHF-PH. Its prognostic capability could be further refined by including it in a multi-marker panel. Further studies are needed to establish the potential role of WIF-1 in LHF-PH pathophysiology in larger cohorts to determine its clinical applicability.

Characteristics of Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction Across the Range of Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with HFpEF in whom LVEF ranged from 50% to 60% demonstrated reduced contractility, impaired ventriculo-arterial coupling, and higher extracellular volume fraction. In contrast, patients with HFpEF and a LVEF >60% demonstrated a hypercontractile state with excessive LV afterload and diminished preload reserve.
