The predictive role of CHA2DS2–VASc score between venous thromboembolism and ischemic stroke: a large-scale cohort study
Conclusion: Our study is the first to concern the performance of CHA2DS2–VASc score in predicting the risk of ischemic stroke in VTE patients and the risk of VTE in ischemic stroke patients. Nevertheless, the performance of the score was modest, and the transportability of the score in these populations still needs to be defined.

Conclusions Four in 10 stroke patients are discharged home without services. Although little has changed overall in PAC use since 2003, further research is needed to explain the shift in service use by type and its effect on outcomes.

Sex differences in stroke mortality in Thailand  : A National cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to men, women were older at time of stroke-diagnosis and had higher burden of stroke risk-factors. Women also had higher mortality after stroke regardless of stroke-type or duration since stroke-onset. Post-IS, excess stroke-mortality in women was greatest during the in-hospital period, whereas excess stroke-mortality increased with time in women who had HS. Reduced Glomerular Filtration Rate and Risk of Stroke: A Nationwide Cohort Study in South Korea.

Hyperuricemia and the risk of ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation — Could it refine clinical risk stratification in AF?
Conclusions: Hyperuricemia was a significant risk factor of stroke which could potentially refine the clinical risk stratification in AF. It deserves a prospective trial to investigate whether it would change the current strategy for stroke preventions using oral anticoagulants.

Underutilization of warfarin for stroke prophylaxis in patients with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter in Korea.
CONCLUSIONS: A high portion of AF/AFL patients with CHADS2 score ≥2 were undertreated with warfarin. Risks of Death and Stroke in Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis With New-Onset Atrial Fibrillation: A Competing-Risk Analysis of a Nationwide Cohort.
