Efficacy of ablation therapy on clinical outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSION: Ablation significantly reduces the risk of stroke, cardiovascular mortality, all-cause mortality, and HF in AF patients, compared with medical therapy alone, supporting its use in clinical practice.PMID:37663739 | PMC:PMC10473299 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000985

Exploring the transformative influence of neuroplasticity on stroke rehabilitation: a narrative review of current evidence
Ann Med Surg (Lond). 2023 Aug 7;85(9):4425-4432. doi: 10.1097/MS9.0000000000001137. eCollection 2023 Sep.ABSTRACTThis review aims to assess the role of neuroplasticity in facilitating stroke recovery and identify the challenges and limitations associated with its implementation. A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify relevant studies, which were meticulously evaluated to determine the potential solutions for effectively harnessing neuroplasticity. The results indicate that neuroplasticity holds significant promise in stroke rehabilitation; however, individual variability in response to interventions, t...

Effects of digital-based interventions on muscular strength in adults: a systematic review, meta-analysis and meta-regression of randomized controlled trials with quality of evidence assessment
CONCLUSIONS: Overall, DBI may serve as an effective method to improve measures of strength in adults, regardless of their health status as well as the type of digital device, the presence of human-computer interaction, and the age of participants. In addition, the DBI was found to be more effective than traditional training or rehabilitation methods.KEY MESSAGESDigital-based intervention (DBI) is effective in improving measures of muscular strength in adults regardless of participants' health statusDBIs were equally effective for strength improvements in lower and upper limbsAlthough, DBIs were found to be effective in imp...

Probabilistic graphical modelling using Bayesian networks for predicting clinical outcome after posterior decompression in patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy
CONCLUSIONS: The causal predictors of surgical outcome for DCM were sex, dementia and PreJOA score. Therefore, PGM may be a useful personalized medicine tool for predicting the outcome of patients with DCM.PMID:37435966 | DOI:10.1080/07853890.2023.2232999

Cerebellopontine angle meningioma in a patient presented as acute cerebrovascular accident
CONCLUSION: Although stroke is the main cause of sudden onset ataxia in a patient with cerebrovascular risk factors, yet other less common causes may be found as in this case of CPA meningioma.PMID:37427233 | PMC:PMC10328571 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000000928

Cerebrovascular disease in patients with COVID-19 infection: a case series from Lebanon
Ann Med Surg (Lond). 2023 Jun 10;85(7):3701-3708. doi: 10.1097/MS9.0000000000000953. eCollection 2023 Jul.ABSTRACTCOVID-19 has been associated with a variety of multi-organs complications, with an increasing proportion of patients presenting with neurologic manifestations. There is still an uncertainty in the relationship between stroke and COVID-19. Therefore, in this study, the authors report 18 cases of acute stroke occurring in the setting of COVID-19 infection, including 11 ischaemic strokes and 7 haemorrhagic strokes and identified in a Lebanese tertiary hospital. In this case series, patients with ischaemic and haem...
