Associations Between Drug Treatments and the Risk of Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
AbstractThere is increasing interest in drug therapy for preventing aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). We aimed to comprehensively evaluate the association between drug use and the risk of aSAH. We searched PubMed and Scopus from the databases ’ inception until December 2021. Statins and subarachnoid hemorrhage in Medicare patients with unruptured cerebral aneurysms
ConclusionsStatin use by patients with unruptured cerebral aneurysms was not associated with subarachnoid hemorrhage risk. Given the prior animal experimental studies demonstrating a protective effect, further prospective studies are needed to investigate the potential relationship.

Statin Use and Risk of Cerebral Aneurysm Rupture: A Hospital-based Case–control Study in Japan
Conclusions: This observation from a hospital-based case-control study in Japan suggested that there is inverse relationship between use of statins and cerebral aneurysm rupture. Future clinical studies are needed.

Cerebral hemorrhages in CADASIL: Report of four cases and a brief review
Conclusions: Hemorrhagic stroke can occur in CADASIL similarly to sporadic cerebral small vessel diseases; this finding expands the phenotype of the disease. A diagnosis of CADASIL should probably be considered also in patients with ICH. These data bear potential implications in terms of need of better control of risk factors, particularly hypertension, and raise relevant questions about the use of antiplatelets as prevention measures in CADASIL patients.
