Soluble Suppression of Tumorigenicity-2 as a Candidate Prognostic Marker for Stroke: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSIONS: Although some studies have reported a predictive value of serum sST-2 measurement in the incidence of stroke, a clear consensus has yet to be reached because of discrepancies in the results. As for the prognosis of post-stroke outcomes, sST-2 may be a predictor of mortality, composite adverse events, and major disability after stroke. Overall, more well-designed prospective cohort studies are needed to reach a more decisive conclusion on the value of sST-2 measurement for the prediction of stroke and its outcomes and to determine optimal cutoffs.PMID:37387491 | PMC:PMC10345178 | DOI:10.3343/alm.2023.43.6.585

BNP on Admission Combined with Imaging Markers of Multimodal CT to Predict the Risk of Cardioembolic Stroke
CONCLUSION: BNP on admission combined with MMR is valuable for the risk prediction of CE stroke, which will promote the further screening of the high-risk patients with CE stroke and provide more diagnostic information for clinicians.PMID:35928924 | PMC:PMC9345733 | DOI:10.1155/2022/3327967

Tissue Kallikrein Activity, Detected by a Novel Method, May Be a Predictor of Recurrent Stroke: A Case-Control Study.
Conclusions. Our findings suggest that urinary TK activity may be a stronger predictor of stroke recurrence than plasma TK levels. PMID: 26451066 [PubMed - in process]

Atrial Fibrillation is Strongly Associated With the Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Retrospective Study
ConclusionWe confirmed that the atrial fibrillation can be a predictor of high NLR in acute stroke patients, and diabetes mellitus as well as low BMI could be a predictor of high NLR in female acute ischemic stroke patients.

Genetic Polymorphisms rs699947, rs1570360, and rs3025039 on the VEGF Gene Are Correlated with Extracranial Internal Carotid Artery Stenosis and Ischemic Stroke.
In conclusion, VEGF rs699947 and rs3025039 polymorphisms were associated with increased risk of stroke, while rs1570360 and rs699947 were associated with stroke and ECICA stenosis. PMID: 28442515 [PubMed - in process]

Serum levels of endocan and endoglin are associated with large-artery atherosclerotic stroke
Conclusions Endocan levels are higher in patients with LAA stroke and can help in predicting the short-term unfavourable outcome. Endoglin levels are changed after stroke.
