CircFOXP1 alleviates brain injury after acute ischemic stroke by regulating STAT3/apoptotic signaling
Transl Res. 2023 Feb 12:S1931-5244(23)00022-1. doi: 10.1016/j.trsl.2023.01.007. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAccording to previous studies, circular RNAs (circRNAs) are involved in multiple pathological processes of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, the relationship between circFOXP1 and IS has not yet been reported. Here, we found that circFOXP1 expression was significantly decreased in the peripheral blood of AIS patients compared to controls and was associated with the severity and prognosis of AIS. Functionally, knockdown and overexpression of circFOXP1 promoted and inhibited apoptotic signaling, respectively, fol...

NT-proBNP Levels and Collateral Circulation Status in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: In AACIS patients with AF, NT-proBNP level negatively correlated with collateral status, positively with CTP ischemic volume, and positively with NIHSS score.PMID:37091896 | PMC:PMC10121344 | DOI:10.1155/2023/5318012

Overexpressing Glyoxalase 1 Attenuates Acute Hyperglycemia-Exacerbated Neurological Deficits of Ischemic Stroke in Mice
This study investigated the therapeutic effects of the overexpression of glyoxalase 1 (GLO1), a detoxifying enzyme of glycotoxins, on acute hyperglycemia-aggravated ischemic brain injury. In present study, AAV-mediated GLO1 overexpression reduced infarct volume and edema level but did not improve neurofunctional recovery in the mice with MCAO. AAV-GLO1 infection significantly enhanced neurofunctional recovery in the MCAO mice with acute hyperglycemia but not in the mice with normoglycemia. MG-modified proteins expression significantly increased in the ipsilateral cortex of the MCAO mice with acute hyperglycemia. AAV-GLO1 i...

Difference in the Prognostic Significance of N-Terminal Pro-B-Type Natriuretic Peptide between Cardioembolic and Noncardioembolic Ischemic Strokes.
Conclusions. Our data suggest that NT-proBNP can more reliably predict 6-month mortality in patients with cardioembolic stroke than in patients with other stroke subtypes. PMID: 25834300 [PubMed - in process]

The Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio in Poststroke Infection: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Dis Markers. 2022 Mar 12;2022:1983455. doi: 10.1155/2022/1983455. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTIschemic and hemorrhagic strokes have multiple downstream consequences for patients. One of the most critical is poststroke infection (PSI). The goal of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to critically evaluate the literature regarding the use of the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as a reliable means to detect early PSI development, particularly poststroke pneumonia (PSP) development to help clinicians institute early interventions and improve outcomes. The following were the inclusion criteria: (1) cross-sectional, c...
