Inter-rater reliability of the simplified Modified Rankin Scale as an outcome measure for treated cerebral aneurysm patients
CONCLUSION: The simplified mRS appears to be a reliable clinical outcome measure for treated cerebral aneurysm patients. When needed, dichotomization is more reliable at mRS 0-2 vs 3-5 than at 0-1 vs 2-5. The simplified mRS is a promising tool in the functional assessment of aneurysm patients recruited in pragmatic care trials.PMID:35662528 | DOI:10.1016/j.neuchi.2022.04.003

Endovascular Coil Embolization for Recurrent Bow Hunter's Stroke
Intern Med. 2022 May 14. doi: 10.2169/internalmedicine.8906-21. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBow hunter's stroke is a rare cause of vertebrobasilar infarction. There is no consensus regarding the optimal treatment. We herein report a case of bow hunter's stroke successfully treated by endovascular treatment. A 70-year-old man presented with central vertigo. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed posterior circulation infarcts. Dynamic angiography revealed thrombus formation and hypoperfusion of the right vertebral artery upon head rotation to the left. Endovascular parent artery occlusion of the right vertebral artery wa...

A 90-Day Prognostic Model Based on the Early Brain Injury Indicators after Aneurysmal Subarachnoid Hemorrhage: the TAPS Score
This study aimed to establish a new scoring model based on the early brain injury (EBI) indicators to predict the 90-day functional outcomes in patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH). We retrospectively enrolled 825 patients and prospectively enrolled 108 patients with aSAH who underwent surgical clipping or endovascular coiling (derivation cohort = 640; validation cohort = 185; prospective cohort = 108) in our institute. We established a logistic regression model based on independent risk factors associated with 90-day unfavorable outcomes. The discrimination of the prognostic model was assessed by the ar...

Combined standard bypass and parent artery occlusion for management of giant and complex internal carotid artery aneurysms
Conclusions The combined approach of STA-MCA bypass surgery followed by parent artery occlusion achieves high aneurysm occlusion and low morbidity rates in the management of giant and complex ICA aneurysms. This combined indirect approach represents a viable alternative to flow diversion in patients with cranial nerve compression syndromes or matricidal aneurysms, and may serve as a backup strategy in cases of peri-interventional complications or lack of suitable endovascular access.

Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization for Chronic Subdural Hematoma Using N-Butyl Cyanoacrylate With D5W Push Technique
CONCLUSION: MMA embolization using diluted n-BCA with concomitant D5W injection is associated with a high degree of distal penetration and complete branch occlusion and minimal risk of cranial nerve palsy or other thromboembolic complications.

Intracranial hematoma following ruptured anterior communicating artery aneurysms: risk factors, outcome, and prognostic factors after management of coiling first
Conclusion A posterior orientation of ruptured AcomA aneurysms was associated with the incidence of ICHs. Coiling first with surgical management if necessary seems to be an acceptable treatment for ruptured AcomA aneurysms with ICHs. The clinical outcome was associated with the clinical neurological status on admission.
