Hemodynamic outcomes of stenting for vertebrobasilar insufficiency in patients with a low flow state

CSF-Based Volumetric Imaging Biomarkers Highlight Incidence and Risk Factors for Cerebral Edema After Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionsCerebral edema can be measured in a majority of patients with stroke on follow-up computed tomography using volumetric biomarkers evaluating CSF shifts, including in many without visible midline shift. Edema formation is influenced by clinical and radiographic stroke severity but also by chronic vascular risk factors and contributes to worse stroke outcomes.

Dynamic changes of the direction and angle of radiographic ocular lateral deviation in patients with lateropulsion after stroke onset
ConclusionSerial changes in rOLD findings after stroke onset are different according to the responsible lesion. The direction of rOLD in most patients is in accordance with vertical perception after the acute stage of stroke.

“Missing-piece” sign with dural arteriovenous fistula at craniocervical junction: A case report
Spinal dural arteriovenous fistula (sDAVF) is a rare and often underdiagnosed spinal disease. Early diagnosis is required because the deficits are reversible and delays in treatment cause permanent morbidity. Although the abnormal vascular flow void is a critical radiographic feature of sDAVF, they are not always present. A characteristic enhancement pattern of sDAVF has been recently reported as the “missing-piece” sign which can lead to the early and correct diagnosis.

The charlotte large artery occlusion endovascular therapy outcome score compares favorably to the critical area perfusion score for prognostication before basilar thrombectomy
Late window endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) trials enrolled patients presenting with an internal carotid artery (ICA) or proximal middle cerebral artery (MCA) occlusion using computed tomography perfusion (CTP) or magnetic resonance imaging perfusion selection criteria.1,2 Radiographic1 or clinical mismatch2 was required for inclusion in these landmark studies. Although perfusion imaging is not always used for patient selection in early window anterior circulation thrombectomy,3 CTP ischemic core volume is independently associated with functional outcome improvement in the 0-6-hour time window when good endovascular reperfusion is achieved.

Extreme preterm neonate with fetal warfarin syndrome
A 25+3 week gestation male infant weighing 493 g was delivered via caesarean section for intrauterine growth restriction and abnormal Dopplers. The mother was on long-term thromboprophylactic warfarin 5 mg/day due to her prosthetic mechanical heart valve following childhood rheumatic fever. Once pregnancy was diagnosed, at 4+0 weeks’ gestation, warfarin was discontinued and low-molecular-weight heparin was started. Initial experience with transcarotid arterial revascularization with flow reversal in the management of symptomatic carotid stenosis
