Work satisfaction among neuroradiology staff after receiving follow up reports of thrombectomy stroke patients
by Charlotte Hager, Homan Taufik, Friederike Blum, Andrea Stockero, Martin Wiesmann, Arno Reich, Rebecca May, Omid Nikoubashman Background and purposeDuring a period of 6 months, we provided our entire neuroradiological staff including physicians, radiographers, and researchers with systematic feedback via email on the further clinical course of stroke patients who underwent mechanical thrombectomy. We analyzed the effects of this feedback on work satisfaction, work meaningfulness and valuation of the therapy among our staff. MethodsOur staff completed two self-reported questionnaires before and after the period of six mon...

Conventional and molecular imaging in sickle cell disease
Conclusions: Central nervous system: About 25% of SCD patients are affected by vascular involvement of central nervous system. CT scan has been used to detect cerebral infarction. Subclinical cranial MRI lesions yield important predictive values as a risk factor of stroke, even when detected in asymptomatic patients. SPECT is a useful technique for early detection of deficits in cerebral perfusion in patients with SCD. Decreases in cerebral perfusions may lead to silent infarction, stroke, or neurocognitive diseases. PET may improve sensitivity in detection of impaired metabolism in the area surrounding a major vessel infa...

High ankle-brachial index predicts cardiovascular events and mortality in hemodialysis patients with severe secondary hyperparathyroidism
CONCLUSION: The presence of vascular calcifications and arterial stiffness was highly prevalent in our population. We suggest that ABI, a simple and cost-effective diagnostic tool, could be used at an outpatient basis to predict cardiovascular events in patients with severe SHPT undergoing HD.PMID:33979425 | DOI:10.1590/2175-8239-JBN-2020-0218

Early Postmarket Results with EmboTrap II Stent Retriever for Mechanical Thrombectomy: A Multicenter Experience INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: Initial postmarket results with the EmboTrap II stent retriever are favorable and comparable with those of other commercially available stent retrievers. Compared with EmboTrap II, the first-generation EmboTrap may have a higher first-pass efficacy; however, data are limited by retrospective case analysis, incomplete clinical follow-up, and small sample size, necessitating future trials.

Association with clinic risk factors of Percheron artery infarction and magnetic resonance imaging involvement patterns
This study aimed to discuss the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings of this abnormal variant of arterial supply. Patients who presented to our hospital with stroke symptoms between 2010 and 2019 and underwent brain MRI were evaluated retrospectively. Eleven patients with AOP infarction were included in the study. The mean age of the patients was 67.4  ± 9.6 years. Seven (63.6%) of the patients were male and four (36.4%) were female. Accompanying diseases were hypertension in eight patients (72.7%) and coronary artery disease in five (45.4%). In eight patients (72.3%), the infarction of AOP extended under the th...

Safety and feasibility of transradial use of 8F balloon guide catheter Flowgate < sup > 2 < /sup > for endovascular thrombectomy in acute ischemic stroke
CONCLUSION: The use of 8 F Balloon Guide Catheter during MT via transradial approach might represent an alternative in selected cases with unfavorable vascular anatomies. Its use in right ICA catheterizations was associated with a high rate of catheter kinking.PMID:33892601 | DOI:10.1177/15910199211013186

Timing and Outcome of Endovascular Repair for Uncomplicated Type B Aortic Dissection
CONCLUSION: The present study indicates that TEVAR for high risk uTBAD in the acute phase was associated with a trend toward higher rates of early complications, while the long term outcomes were comparable with those of the subacute phase.PMID:33846073 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2021.02.026
