IJERPH, Vol. 19, Pages 9975: Elastic Dynamic Sling on Subluxation of Hemiplegic Shoulder in Patients with Subacute Stroke: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusions: The subluxation distance showed better results in the elastic dynamic sling, which has both proximal and distal parts, than in the Bobath sling, which holds only the proximal part. Both shoulder orthoses showed improvements in the modified Barthel index, upper-extremity function, and manual muscle testing.

Dynamic changes of the direction and angle of radiographic ocular lateral deviation in patients with lateropulsion after stroke onset
ConclusionSerial changes in rOLD findings after stroke onset are different according to the responsible lesion. The direction of rOLD in most patients is in accordance with vertical perception after the acute stage of stroke.

Stem Cell Implants: Emerging Innovation for Stroke Recovery
J Neuro Oncol Res. 2023;3(1):3102. Epub 2023 Apr 30.ABSTRACTStroke is a debilitating neurovascular injury that those effects hundreds of thousands of Americans each year. Despite the high prevalence, disease morbidity and mortality, options for stroke intervention and rehabilitation are still limited. Stem cells have shown promise in stroke treatment due to their ability to self-renew and differentiate into different cell types. The primary sources of stem cells used today are bone marrow and fetal brain tissue, with mesenchymal stem cells, bone marrow stem cells and neural stem cells being particularly well-studied. The Clinical and Radiographic Importance of Distinguishing Partial from Near-Complete Reperfusion Following Intra-Arterial Stroke Therapy INTERVENTIONAL
CONCLUSIONS: Significant differences exist in outcomes and infarct volumes between partial (TICI 2a) and near-complete (TICI 2b/3) reperfusion following intra-arterial stroke therapy. Further trials should separately report these groups to facilitate comparison among treatment paradigms.

Does Preexisting Antiplatelet Treatment Influence Postthrombolysis Intracranial Hemorrhage in Community-treated Ischemic Stroke Patients? An Observational Study.
CONCLUSIONS: The authors did not find that preexisting antiplatelet use was associated with postthrombolysis ICH or sICH in this cohort of community treated patients. Preexisting tobacco use, younger age, and lower severity were associated with lower odds of sICH. The meta-analyses demonstrated small, but statistically significant increases in the absolute risk of radiographic ICH and sICH, along with increased odds of sICH in patients with preexisting antiplatelet use. Performance Metrics for The Interventional Treatment Of Acute Ischemic Stroke; Results from A Comprehensive Stroke Center (P4.245)
CONCLUSIONS:Our study applies recent IA treatment performance measures to a cohort of AIS patients. The findings highlight that most aspects of our IA AIS care had already met these new measures. The most prominent deficiencies included that 23% of patients did not meet the institutional guidelines for IA treatment, and that we lacked data on timing and grading of revascularization. Our findings may be of relevance to other tertiary stroke centers that offer IA therapy.Disclosure: Dr. Sultan-Qurraie has nothing to disclose. Dr. de Havenon has nothing to disclose. Clinical, angiographic and radiographic outcome differences among mechanical thrombectomy devices: initial experience of a large-volume center
Conclusions Although our initial data confirm the superiority of SR technology over the Merci device, there was no significant difference in near complete/complete reperfusion, final infarct volumes or clinical outcomes between SR and Penumbra thromboaspiration.

Degree of Collaterals and Not Time Is the Determining Factor of Core Infarct Volume within 6 Hours of Stroke Onset FELLOWS' JOURNAL CLUB
CONCLUSIONS: Collateral status but not time from stroke onset to imaging was a predictor of the size of core infarct in patients with anterior circulation large-vessel occlusion presenting within 6 hours from onset.

E-006 the time of recanalization since symptoms is a predictor of outcome in patients who underwent stent retriever thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke from middle cerebral artery occlusion
ConclusionsOur study demonstrates that patients with LAO from MCA who recanalize less than 3 h of symptoms onset have very good chance of good outcome (0–2) compared to those who recanilize more than 3 h. Therefore, all AIS patients with LAO should offer early SRT to achieve a good functional outcome. Further studies are required.DisclosuresY. Lodi: None. V. Reddy: None. A. Devasenapathy: None. A. A Rare Presentation of Chronic Lymphocytic Inflammation with Pontine Perivascular Enhancement Responsive to Steroids (CLIPPERS) as Acute Ischemic Stroke (P6.112)
CONCLUSIONS: This case illustrates not only a classic clinical and radiographic case of CLIPPERS, but also that this recently recognized disorder can be easily misdiagnosed as a neuromuscular disease in the early stages, and stroke in the more severe stages. Rarely, the inflammatory infiltrate can result in stroke in these patients, and is likely the cause of the acute exacerbation of our patient’s symptoms. This case also demonstrates the need for contrast imaging whenever possible, as the non-contrast imaging failed to identify the characteristic diffuse enhancing punctate lesions.Disclosure: Dr. Gadhia has nothing...

Stagnation of treatment times over a decade: results of a pooled analysis from the MERCI registry, MERCI, TREVO, and TREVO 2 trials
Conclusions Despite a reduction in procedure times, there has not been a corresponding improvement in overall last known normal to puncture times over a 10-year period. The current study shows that there are many opportunities to create more efficient endovascular stroke systems of care in trials.

Influence of carotid tortuosity on internal carotid artery access time in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke.
Conclusion Supraaortic vessel tortuosity significantly influences ICA-AT in mechanical thrombectomy for an acute large vessel. There furthermore was a trend for lower successful recanalization rates with increasing ICA-AT. PMID: 28944705 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Utility of perfusion imaging in acute stroke treatment: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions Perfusion imaging may represent a complementary tool to standard radiographic assessment in enhancing patient selection for reperfusion therapy, with a subset of patients having up to 1.9 times the odds of achieving independent functional status at 3 months. This is particularly important as patients selected based on perfusion status often included individuals who did not meet the current treatment eligibility criteria.

A direct aspiration first pass technique for acute stroke therapy: a systematic review and meta ‐analysis
ConclusionsADAPT therapy is associated with similar reperfusion rates, clinical outcomes and complication rates compared with thrombectomy with stent retrievers. However, the major limitations of current evidence (i.e. retrospective studies and selection bias) indicate a need for adequately powered, multicenter randomized controlled trials to determine the best strategy.
