Solitaire stents for the treatment of complex symptomatic intracranial stenosis after antithrombotic failure: safety and efficacy evaluation
Conclusions This is the first case series study of ICAS treated by Solitaire stent placement. Deployment of a Solitaire stent with balloon angioplasty in the treatment of complex severe intracranial stenosis appears safe and effective, with a high technical success rate, relatively low periprocedural complication rate, and favorable outcome during follow-up.

Combined carotid endarterectomy and retrograde stenting of the supra-aortic trunk: Does cervical block offers advantages?
Atherosclerosis of the carotid artery is a major source of stroke. In some cases atherosclerosis occurs at several positions within the carotid artery. Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) in combination with retrograde balloon angioplasty and stenting of a brachiocephalic or common carotid artery stenosis has been described as efficacious and save procedure to prevent stroke in these cases. The aim of this study was to analyse the impact of anaesthetic techniques on hemodynamic factors, operation time, duration of clamping and post-operative pain.

Use of Cardiac Stents to Reperfuse the Brain (P2.280)
CONCLUSIONS: Cardiac stents are easily deployed and associated with few complications. Outcomes were favorable. A larger, prospective trial is needed to evaluate and compare cardiac stents with the currently used stents used for cerebrovascular ischemic disease.Disclosure: Dr. Moussavi has nothing to disclose. Single Centre Experience of Endovascular Intervention in Extra and Intracranial Vertebro-Basilar Stenosis at a Tertiary Care Centre (P1.197)
CONCLUSIONS Vertebro-basilar interventions have high peri-procedural complications, jeopardizing their benefit. For similar patient profiles, we had higher deaths, strokes, cardiac complications compared to VAST trial. Results may be biased by inclusion of basilar interventions, selection bias of high risk patients in a referral center and other factors that confound a retrospective study.Disclosure: Dr. Kaur has nothing to disclose. A Case of Transient Global Amnesia: A Review and How It May Shed Further Insight into the Neurobiology of Delusions
Conclusion In closing, our patient’s episode of TGA combined with her emotional and perceptual response lends credence to the proposal of a “fear/paranoia” circuit in the genesis of paranoid delusions—a circuit incorporating amygdala, frontal, and parietal cortices. Here, neutral or irrelevant stimuli, thoughts, and percepts come to engender fear and anxiety, while dysfunction in frontoparietal circuitry engenders inappropriate social predictions and maladaptive inferences about the intentions of others.[54] Hippocampus relays information about contextual information based on past experiences and the current situat...

A case of successful interventional treatment in acute basilar artery occlusion
We describe a case of successful recanalization and favorite clinical outcome of a patient with acute basilar artery occlusion (BAO) and interventional treatment (IT). A 67-year-old patient presented in a comatose state, with quadriplegia, and decerebrate posturing. His initial Glasgow-Liege Coma Scale (GLCS) score was 11, Institutes of Health Stroke scale (NIHSS) 24, and modified Rankin scale (mRS) 5. Non-contrast CT was performed before IT. Due to suspicion of BAO, an immediate cerebral angiography was performed. It demonstrated BAO in the middle and distal segment. Intra-arterial catheter based treatment was performed i...

Impact of Perioperative Complications After Endovascular Therapy in Diabetic Patients With Critical Limb Ischemia due to Isolated Infrapopliteal Lesions
Conclusion: POCs within 30 days after balloon angioplasty for infrapopliteal disease in diabetics with CLI were more likely to occur in patients with low BMI and tissue loss. POC occurrence was associated with major adverse limb events in follow-up but not with mortality or wound healing.

The Impact and Pathophysiologic Consequences of Coronary Artery Calcium Deposition in Percutaneous Coronary Interventions.
Authors: Lee MS, Shah N Abstract The presence of coronary artery calcium is indicative of advanced coronary artery disease and is a predictor of clinical events including stroke, myocardial infarction, and cardiac arrest. Recognition of the risk factors and the clinical implications associated with coronary artery calcium is vital in identifying both preventative measures as well as treatment options. Non-invasive and invasive strategies can help quantify these calcified lesions and aid in appropriate patient selection for possible use of atheroablative devices. While mild to moderately calcified lesions can be pre...

Stenting of the left pulmonary artery after palliation of hypoplastic left heart syndrome
ConclusionsStenting of the left pulmonary artery after Norwood/Fontan palliation is safe and effective. Stents can be redilated to match somatic growth. The incidence of neointimal proliferation is extremely low and can be addressed by balloon dilation or stent implantation. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Temporal Trends in Clinical Outcomes Following Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients with Renal Insufficiency.
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of cardiovascular events after PCI has reduced during the 26-year period mainly because of the reduction in repeat revascularization in patients with renal insufficiency, despite the higher risk profiles in the recent era. VasSol touts data on MRI-based blood flow measurement
VasSol said last week that results from a trial of its Nova non-invasive optimal vessel analysis showed that the device was able to identify critical trial patients at higher risk of recurrent stroke. The results from the study were published in the JAMA Neurology journal. Results from the 6-year, multi-center Veritas trial indicated that patients who experience a stroke in the back of their brain, and continue to have reduced blood flow to the area, have a higher risk of having another stroke within 2 years. “Nova is the only technology that can visualize and quantify the volume, speed and direction of blood flow...
