Immediate and Long Term Results of a Randomised Single Centre Study of Surgical Treatment of Asymptomatic Stenosis of the Internal Carotid Arteries
Introduction: Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is one of the main causes of disability and mortality in many developed countries of the world. The results of numerous studies have confirmed the positive effect of carotid endarterectomy (CEA) in the prevention of stroke development in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients. Balloon angioplasty (BA) and carotid artery stenting (CAS) have evolved, in part, because of the need for alternative, less invasive treatments for patients considered poor candidates for surgery based on anatomical or clinical parameters.

Rationale and design for comparison of non-compliant balloon with drug-coating balloon angioplasty for side branch after provisional stenting for patients with true coronary bifurcation lesions: a prospective, multicentre and randomised DCB-BIF trial
Introduction Provisional stenting using drug-eluting stent is effective for simple coronary bifurcation lesions. Kissing balloon inflation using conventional non-compliant balloon is the primary treatment of side branch (SB) after main vessel (MV) stenting. Drug-coating balloon (DCB) is reported to be associated with less frequent clinical events in in-stent restenosis and small vessel disease. The importance of DCB in bifurcation treatment is understudied. Accordingly, this trial is designed to investigate the superiority of DCB to non-compliant balloon angioplasty for SB after provisional stenting in patients with true c...

A retrospective study of drug-coated balloon angioplasty for vertebral artery origin stenosis
ConclusionsAngioplasty using DCB for VAOS may be feasible, safe, and effective. The degree of residual stenosis after using DCB alone may affect the restenosis rate.

Multimodal recanalization for subacute symptomatic internal carotid artery occlusion due to atherosclerosis: Outcomes and notes on hybrid techniques
CONCLUSION: Multimodal recanalization techniques performed in a hybrid operation theater can safely achieve high recanalization rates in atherosclerotic ICAO patients in the subacute phase, which can be beneficial for recovering CBP and preventing stroke.PMID:35247538 | DOI:10.1016/j.avsg.2022.01.022

Potential hemorrhagic risk of endovascular revascularization therapy due to recanalization of the dissected perforator in intracranial internal carotid artery dissection: A case report
CONCLUSION: To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report demonstrating that the intracranial ICA dissection extends to the associated perforator. Considering the potential risk of subsequent hemorrhagic complications by recanalization of the dissected perforator, prudent postoperative management, including strict blood pressure control, is advisable following endovascular revascularization therapy against intracranial artery dissection involving perforators.PMID:35242437 | PMC:PMC8888279 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_938_2021
