O-063 First U.S. multicenter experience using the pipeline flex embolization device with shield technology for treatment of intracranial aneurysms
ConclusionOur study is the first to report the early experience with the newly FDA-approved PED Flex with Shield technology amongst US centers. Our results are comparable with non-US, international studies showing a high technical success rate and safe peri-procedural angiographic and patient outcome. Longer follow-up will be needed to provide more robust data on angiographic and patient outcomes.Disclosures A. Kuhn: None. J. Singh: None. A. Abdelsalam: None. V. Saini: None. J. Burks: None. G. Rescue therapy after thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion due to underlying atherosclerosis: review of literature
Front Neurol. 2023 Jun 16;14:1181295. doi: 10.3389/fneur.2023.1181295. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTIn this review article, we summarized the current advances in rescue management for reperfusion therapy of acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion due to underlying intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS). It is estimated that 24-47% of patients with acute vertebrobasilar artery occlusion have underlying ICAS and superimposed in situ thrombosis. These patients have been found to have longer procedure times, lower recanalization rates, higher rates of reocclusion and lower rates of favorable outcomes than patients ...

Novel technique of stent placement via gateway balloon in intracranial atherosclerosis-associated large vessel occlusion
CONCLUSION: Our preliminary experience suggests possible safety and feasibility of deploying Neuroform Atlas stent through a compatible Gateway balloon microcatheter without the need for ICH-associated microcatheter exchange. Further studies with long-term clinical and angiographic follow-up are warranted to corroborate our initial findings.PMID:37391866 | DOI:10.1111/jon.13139

Rescue therapy after thrombectomy for large vessel occlusion due to underlying atherosclerosis: review of literature
In this review article, we summarized the current advances in rescue management for reperfusion therapy of acute ischemic stroke from large vessel occlusion due to underlying intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS). It is estimated that 24–47% of patients with acute vertebrobasilar artery occlusion have underlying ICAS and superimposed in situ thrombosis. These patients have been found to have longer procedure times, lower recanalization rates, higher rates of reocclusion and lower rates of favorable outcomes than patients with embolic occlusion. Here, we discuss the most recent literature regarding the use of glyco...

Balloon Angioplasty for Symptomatic Intracranial Artery Stenosis (BASIS): protocol of a prospective, multicentre, randomised, controlled trial
DISCUSSION: BASIS trail is the first RCT to compare the efficacy and safety of balloon angioplasty plus AMM to AMM alone in sICAS patients, which may provide an alternative perspective for treating sICAS.TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT03703635; https://www.CLINICALTRIALS: gov.PMID:37202152 | DOI:10.1136/svn-2022-002288

New Diffusion Abnormalities Following Endovascular Treatment for Intracranial Atherosclerosis
Conclusion New ischemic brain lesions on diffusion-weighted MRI scans were common after endovascular treatment for symptomatic intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis, and occurrence may be associated with cigarette smoking and the number of operative attempts. Distal cerebral vasospasm treatment following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage using the Comaneci device: technical feasibility and single-center preliminary results
Conclusion This initial experience suggests that distal mechanical angioplasty performed with the Comaneci-17 device for refractory vasospasm following aSAH seems to be safe, with good feasibility and efficacy.

Staged endovascular recanalization for symptomatic atherosclerotic non-acutely occluded internal carotid artery
CONCLUSIONS: This retrospective study found that staged endovascular recanalization for symptomatic atherosclerotic NAOICA may be feasible with an acceptable technical success rate and a low complication rate in the selected candidates.PMID:36883208 | DOI:10.1177/15910199231162666
