Sex differences in outcomes after stroke among patients with low total cholesterol levels: a large hospital-based prospective study
ConclusionsThese findings suggest that patients (both men and women) with atherothrombotic infarction who have low TC levels would not benefit from receiving statin treatment. Therefore, it is crucial to explore the impact of statin treatment on outcomes in Asian patients, especially Chinese patients with atherothrombotic and low TC levels, in order to improve outcomes after stroke and reduce the disease burden.

Sex differences in long-term outcomes among acute ischemic stroke patients with diabetes in China
Conclusions These findings suggest that it is crucial to establish the individual scheme of therapy for every patient by different risk factors of stroke, strengthen the rehabilitation of stroke, and carry on the health education early for the secondary prevention of stroke in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM).

A study on the association of rs7950273 polymorphism in the PDGFD with ischaemic stroke in the Chinese Han population.
CONCLUSION: This study suggests that the polymorphism of rs7950273 in the PDGFD gene is not associated with ischaemic stroke in the Chinese Han population. Offsetting the impact of smoking and e-cigarette vaping on the cerebrovascular system and stroke injury: Is Metformin a viable countermeasure?
In this study we provide additional in vivo evidence showing that MF can effectively reduce the oxidative and inflammatory risk for stroke and attenuate post-ischemic brain injury promoted by TS and e-Cig vaping. Our data also suggest that MF administration could be extended as prophylactic care during the time window required for the renormalization of the risk levels of stroke following smoking cessation thus further studies in that direction are warrated. Fuzzy cognitive map based approach for determining the risk of ischemic stroke
In this study, the soft computing method known as fuzzy cognitive mapping was proposed for diagnosis of the risk of ischemic stroke. Non-linear Hebbian learning method was used for fuzzy cognitive maps training. In the proposed method, the risk rate for each person was determined based on the opinions of the neurologists. The accuracy of the proposed model was tested using 10-fold cross-validation, for 110 real cases, and the results were compared with those of support vector machine and K-nearest neighbours. Resolution of inflammation is disturbed in acute ischemic stroke with diabetes mellitus and rescued by resolvin D2 treatment
