Pentraxin-3 in Thrombolytic Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke: No Relation with Curative Effect and Prognosis.
CONCLUSIONS PTX3 is not suitable to serve as an indicator of thrombolytic efficacy and had no association with long-term prognosis in stroke patients receiving thrombolytic therapy. PMID: 29949524 [PubMed - in process]

CTA Characteristics of the Circle of Willis and Intracranial Aneurysm in a Chinese Crowd with Family History of Stroke.
Conclusions. The certain variations of CoW showed significant relation to gender, but not to age in people with family history of stroke. The incomplete circle may be a dangerous factor that is independent of common risk factors for stroke and tend to lead to cerebral ischemia in the crowd with family history of stroke. The prevalence of intracranial aneurysm is comparatively high in the present subjects compared to other people. PMID: 26881211 [PubMed - in process]

Ophthalmic artery flow direction change predicts recurrence of ischemic stroke after carotid stenting: a longitudinal observational study
ConclusionsPrognosis after carotid stenting is poorer for patients with MCA stenosis  >  50%, BA/VA stenosis  >  50% and/or COAF. Carotid duplex and magnetic resonance angiography provide definitive information for prognosis prediction.

Diagnostic TCD for intracranial stenosis in acute stroke patients: experience from a tertiary care stroke center in Karachi, Pakistan
Conclusions: This study indicates the poor sensitivity of TCD to be a reliable screening tool for the presence of ICAD in the South Asian population in a real life clinical setting.

Relationship Between Carotid Stenosis and Infarct Volume in Ischemic Stroke Patients.
CONCLUSIONS Our findings indicate that the percentage of carotid artery stenosis could be useful in predicting the infarct volume of the stroke. PMID: 27984560 [PubMed - in process]

Current concepts on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) perfusion-diffusion assessment in acute ischaemic stroke: a review & an update for the clinicians.
Current concepts on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) perfusion-diffusion assessment in acute ischaemic stroke: a review & an update for the clinicians. Indian J Med Res. 2014 Dec;140(6):717-28 Authors: Roldan-Valadez E, Lopez-Mejia M Abstract Recently, several medical societies published joint statements about imaging recommendations for acute stroke and transient ischaemic attack patients. In following with these published guidelines, we considered it appropriate to present a brief, practical and updated review of the most relevant concepts on the MRI assessment of acute stroke. Basic principles ...

Combination of Magnetic Resonance Angiography and Computational Fluid Dynamics May Predict the Risk of Stroke in Patients with Asymptomatic Carotid Plaques.
CONCLUSIONS The combination of plaque morphology characteristics NWI and hemodynamic parameter WSS may predict the risk of stroke in patients with asymptomatic carotid plaques. PMID: 28126983 [PubMed - in process]

Modified Prehospital Acute Stroke Severity (mPASS) Scale to Predict Emergent Large Arterial Occlusion
CONCLUSIONS: The mPASS scale had a better discrimination for identifying ELVO than the PASS scale in our retrospective cohort. It might predict ELVO in an effective and simple way for paramedics in the prehospital triage stage or emergency stage. Moreover, cortical symptoms might have relatively high specificities to predict ELVO on their own.PMID:34337028 | PMC:PMC8315848 | DOI:10.1155/2021/5568696

Comparative study of DSC-PWI and 3D-ASL in ischemic stroke patients
Abstract The purpose of this study was to quantitatively analyze the relationship between three dimensional arterial spin labeling (3D-ASL) and dynamic susceptibility contrast-enhanced perfusion weighted imaging (DSC-PWI) in ischemic stroke patients. Thirty patients with ischemic stroke were included in this study. All subjects underwent routine magnetic resonance imaging scanning, diffusion weighted imaging (DWI), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), 3D-ASL and DSC-PWI on a 3.0T MR scanner. Regions of interest (ROIs) were drawn on the cerebral blood flow (CBF) maps (derived from ASL) and multi-parametric DSC pe...

Clinical efficacy of tirofiban combined with a Solitaire stent in treating acute ischemic stroke.
This study explores the safety and effect of acute cerebral infarction treatment by microcatheter injection of tirofiban combined with a Solitaire AB stent and/or stent implantation. Emergency cerebral angiograms showing the responsible vascular occlusion of 120 acute cerebral infarction patients who underwent emergency endovascular thrombectomy were included in the study. These patients were randomly divided into two groups using the random number table method: treatment group (n=60) that received thrombectomy (with cerebral artery stents) combined with intracerebral injection of tirofiban and control group (n=60) that on...

Safety and Efficacy Analyses of Angioplasty and Stenting for Severe Intracranial Arterial Stenosis: A Single-Center Retrospective Study in China.
CONCLUSIONS A suitable PTAS procedure is safe for patients with severe ICAS, and no significant differences in incidence of recurrent stroke or death were found between PTAS and aggressive medication treatment. PMID: 26517946 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Serum neurofilament light chain in functionally relevant coronary artery disease and adverse cardiovascular outcomes
CONCLUSION: While sNfL concentrations did not show a diagnostic role for fCAD, in contrast, sNfL was a strong and independent predictor of cardiovascular outcomes, including all-cause death, cardiovascular death and stroke/TIA.PMID:36714921 | DOI:10.1080/1354750X.2023.2172211
