Cardiac Remodeling in Response to 1 Year of Intensive Endurance Training.
CONCLUSIONS: -One year of prolonged and intensive endurance training leads to cardiac morphologic adaptations in previously sedentary young subjects similar to those observed in elite endurance athletes; however it is not sufficient to achieve similar levels of cardiac compliance and performance. Contrary to conventional thinking, the left ventricle responds to exercise with initial concentric not eccentric remodeling during the first 6-9 months after commencement of endurance training depending on the duration and intensity of exercise. Influence of percutaneous mitral valve repair using the MitraClip® system on renal function in patients with severe mitral regurgitation
Conclusion: Successful PMVR was associated with an improvement in renal function. The improvement in renal function was associated with the extent of MR reduction and pre‐existing kidney dysfunction. Our data emphasize the relevance of PVMR to stabilize the cardiorenal axis in patients with severe mitral regurgitation. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Conclusions— Targeted temperature management at 33°C with target mean arterial pressure ≥65 mm Hg is associated with increased SVRI and lower cardiac index because of lower heart rate with unaffected left ventricular systolic function compared with 36°C. 0136: Increased intracardiac VEGF and VWF levels revealed low grade inflammatory process and progressive endothelial damage in patients with AF
Conclusion This study suggests that inflammatory process in AF is of low grade. The heart itself is the most likely source of high left atrial VEGF; however, this disorder appears to be a transient event in AF history. AF patients presented significantly higher plasma concentrations of vWF. This study suggests an association between the clinical evolution of AF and the progression of endothelial dysfunction. The Flatstent versus the conventional umbrella devices in the percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale
Conclusion: No difference was found in closure or complication rates between the Flatstent and the umbrella devices. With appropriate pre‐assessment of the PFO anatomy, the Flatstent works as a safe and effective method of treating the PFO from within the tunnel, especially in those with long tunnel PFOs. Quantification of low-gradient severe aortic stenosis using a hybrid approach combining Doppler echocardiography and thermodilution.
CONCLUSION: The hybrid method is reasonably accurate in assessing AVA in patients with low-gradient severe AS. Although the continuity equation should be used in routine clinical practice in most patients, this method could serve as an alternative when the LVOT diameter and/or velocities seem questionable. Use of the Corus® CAD Gene Expression Test for Assessment of Obstructive Coronary Artery Disease Likelihood in Symptomatic Non-Diabetic Patients
Conclusions The Corus CAD test has been extensively evaluated since it was first derived, including with two prospective multi-center trials. Given the scope of the deleterious effects of CAD and the considerable costs involved in diagnosing obstructive CAD, a blood test that can help in this determination is certainly valuable. The Corus CAD test promises to have an important role in this regard particularly if it continues to perform this well in larger, more diverse cohorts.

Risk and Outcomes of Complications during and after MitraClip Implantation: Experience in 828 patients from the German TRAnscatheter Mitral valve Interventions (TRAMI) Registry
Conclusions: MitraClip implantation appears to be a safe treatment option with low rates of MACCE and clip‐specific complications. Nevertheless, MitraClip therapy is not without complications. Careful patient selection and improvements in preventing peri‐procedural bleeding have the potential of reducing post‐procedural complications and improving outcomes. Differential Hemodynamic Effects of Exercise and Volume Expansion in People With and Without Heart Failure Original Articles
Conclusions— Exercise elicits greater pulmonary capillary wedge pressure elevation compared with saline in HFpEF but not controls, suggesting that hemodynamic stresses beyond passive stiffness and increased venous return explain the development of pulmonary venous hypertension in HFpEF.
