Development of a novel composite stroke and bleeding risk score in patients with atrial fibrillation: The AMADEUS study.
CONCLUSION We have developed and validated 2 novel composite scores for stroke/thromboembolism/ bleeding that offer good discriminatory and predictive performance. However, these composite risk scores did not perform better than the easier and more practical 'traditional' stroke and bleeding risk scores that are currently in use, which allow greater practically and more personalised balancing of risks. Changes in pre-hospital management of vascular risk factors among patients admitted due to recurrent stroke in Poland from 1995 to 2013.

The PAr index, an indicator reflecting altered vitamin B-6 homeostasis, is associated with long-term risk of stroke in the general population: the Hordaland Health Study (HUSK)
ConclusionsHigher plasma PAr was independently associated with increased risk of incident stroke in all participants and across all subgroups stratified by conventional risk predictors. Our novel findings point to and expand the range of inflammation and immune activation processes that may be relevant for the pathogenesis and prevention of stroke. This trial was registered at clinicaltrials.gov as NCT03013725.

Effect of Variation in Published Stroke Rates on the Net Clinical Benefit of Anticoagulation for Atrial Fibrillation.
Conclusion: Variation in published AF stroke rates for patients not receiving anticoagulant therapy results in multifold variation in the net clinical benefit of anticoagulation. AbstractThe goal of this paper is to review literature on the topic of anticoagulation resumption after stroke from atrial fibrillation. Following ischemic stroke, the average annual risk of recurrent stroke in a patient with a CHADS2 score of 9 is 12.2%%, translating to an average daily risk of 0.03%%.
