Predictive models for adverse clinical outcomes in Chinese patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with stenting
CONCLUSION: Chinese patients with AF and coronary stenting had high mortality and incidence of MACCE. We compiled separate predictive models for all-cause death, IS/STE, MACCE, and major bleeding.PMID:34353224 | DOI:10.1080/00015385.2021.1950367

Antithrombotic strategy and its relationship with outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation and chronic coronary syndrome
This study aimed to explore antithrombotic strategy and its relationship with outcomes in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) at high risk for stroke and chronic coronary syndrome (CCS) in real-world clinical practice. Patients with AF at high risk for stroke complicated with CCS from China Atrial Fibrillation Registry (CAFR) were enrolled. The patients were divided into non-antithrombotic (Non-AT) group, oral anticoagulants (OAC) group, antiplatelet therapy (APT) group (aspirin or clopidogrel), and dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) group (aspirin  + clopidogrel) according to their antithrombotic strategies at baseli...

Perceptions and knowledge gaps on CHA < sub > 2 < /sub > DS < sub > 2 < /sub > -VASc score components: a joint survey of Chinese clinicians and clinical pharmacists
CONCLUSIONS: Chinese medical professionals, especially EPs and GPs, revealed a lack of knowledge and insufficient skills for CHA2DS2-VASc scores and their components. Improvements in the awareness of the CHA2DS2-VASc score and its detailed scoring criteria are urgently needed for Chinese medical professionals. Therefore, education programs concerning the introduction of stroke risk evaluation for AF patients and the development of referencing scoring tools are necessary.PMID:34694951 | DOI:10.1080/00325481.2021.1996815

Integrative medicine on optimizing clopidogrel and aspirin therapy
This article reviews the available published data on optimizing clopidogrel and aspirin therapy using translational and integrative medicine. Translational and evidence-based medical studies show that theCYP2C19 gene mutation (CYP2C19*2 andCYP2C19*3) could affect> 50% of the Chinese population, and that this mutation is closely associated with clopidogrel resistance and an increased risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, particularly stent thrombosis in patients following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Adjusted-dose warfarin and aspirin reduce stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), and warfar...

Rationale and Design of the Evaluation of Oral Anticoagulation for Reduction of Thrombo-embolism in Chinese Patients with Device-Detected Subclinical Atrial Fibrillation (ART-CAF) Trial: an Open-Label Registry-Based Clinical Trial
ConclusionsART-CAF evaluates the feasibility of selecting high-risk patients suitable for anticoagulation by AF burden combined with CHA2DS2-VASc score after pacemaker implantation and aims to select patients who could benefit from anticoagulation.Trial Registrationhttp://www.chictr.org.cn/index.aspx ChiCTR1800016221

Combination of left atrial appendage closure and catheter ablation in a single procedure for patients with atrial fibrillation: Multicenter experience
ConclusionThe combination therapy with LAAC and AF ablation in a single procedure was efficacious and safe in the Chinese symptomatic AF population with high risk for stroke and bleeding.

Long-Term Persistence with Newly-Initiated Warfarin or Non-VKA Oral Anticoagulant (NOAC) in Patients with Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation: Insights from the Prospective China-AF Registry.
CONCLUSIONS Treatment persistence of NOACs was lower than that of warfarin among Chinese patients with AF. Patients with characteristics of non-persistence predictors need special attention to maintain their therapy. PMID: 30971681 [PubMed - in process]

Preventable Cases of Oral Anticoagulant-Induced Bleeding: Data From the Spontaneous Reporting System
Conclusion: Our findings describe the most reported risk factors for preventability of oral anticoagulant-induced bleedings. These factors may be useful for targeting interventions to improve pharmacovigilance activities in our regional territory and to reduce the burden of medication errors and inappropriate prescription. Introduction Oral anticoagulant therapy is widely used for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation, or for the prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism (Raj et al., 1994; Monaco et al., 2017). Oral anticoagulants can be di...

Persistence, effectiveness and safety of dabigatran in “real-world” Chinese patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation
In conclusion, it is of importance for Chinese clinicians to know about these information because dabigatran is a relatively new drug in China. Compared with other reported data, patients of this study have (1) lower dabigatran persistence and lower incident rates of all-cause death, systemic embolism, minor bleeding events and gastrointestinal hemorrhage and (2) higher incident rates of ischemic stroke and intracranial hemorrhage.

Factors associated with renal impairment in Chinese patients with non-valvular AF and without an established renal disease: a cross-sectional study.
Conclusions: Renal dysfunction is highly prevalent in Chinese NVAF patients and is significantly associated with older age, non-paroxysmal AF, use of ACEI/ARB, congestive heart failure, LVEF <50% and prior TIA/stroke/SE. Further studies on the mechanisms by which these risk factors affect renal function in NVAF patients need to be conducted. PMID: 32174239 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

The epidemiology of atrial fibrillation in Chinese postmenopausal women and its association with age of menopause
As the most common arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation (AF) remains one of the major disease leading to stroke, heart failure and mortality in the world. [1] Although the prevalence of AF is lower in female than male [2], female with AF are more likely to develop stroke and death than male [3,4]. The risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in postmenopausal women increases markedly, especially after the cessation of ovarian function [5]. Therefore, it is imperative to better understand the prevalence trends and management status of AF in postmenopausal women and develop effective prevention strategies to improve the prognosis of ...
