Evaluation of serum levels of homocysteine and C-reactive protein in patients with ischemic stroke
Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2022 Jul 31;68(7):56-62. doi: 10.14715/cmb/2022.68.7.10.ABSTRACTStroke is the third most common cause of death in the world. Plasma homocysteine is an emerging risk factor for stroke. Also, previous studies have shown that serum levels of C-reactive protein (CRP) are significantly associated with mortality and function in patients with ischemic stroke. In the present study, we examined homocysteine and serum CRP levels in patients with ischemic stroke. This descriptive-analytical study was performed on 100 patients with ischemic stroke. Blood samples were taken in the first 24 hours of a str...

Relation of Intracranial Stenosis and Elevated Carotid Intimal Medial Thickness in Black Caribbean Ischemic Stroke Patients (P03.187)
CONCLUSIONS: Our preliminary results suggest that increased MCA velocity is independent elevated CIMT, a biomarker for atherosclerosis, in anterior circulation ischemic stroke in CBs. History of hypercholesterolemia appears to be an important risk factor in atherosclerosis in CBs. This data suggests further prospective studies of MCA stenosis mechanisms in CBs are warranted.Disclosure: Dr. Law has nothing to disclose. Dr. Hao has nothing to disclose. The contribution of systematic implementation of cardiovascular explorations for the detection of cardiac sources of embolism in patients with stroke: About 230  patients.
CONCLUSION: Cardiovascular explorations remain indispensable in the workup of all ischemic strokes even if their therapeutic effect is modest. The lacunar infarct out first at 34% followed by 32% of cardio embolic causes and atheroma of the neck vessels in approximately 16%. PMID: 29753425 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CD4+CD28- lymphocytes and cerebral ischaemic stroke. Part II: CD4+CD28- lymphocytes and carotid artery atherosclerotic plaque characteristics.
Conclusions: The correlation between the proportion of CD4+CD28- lymphocytes and the number of atherosclerotic plaques within the CCA suggests that the cells are involved in the mechanism of carotid plaque formation. There is no proof of the involvement of the above-mentioned cells in the mechanism of plaque destabilization in those arteries. PMID: 23821417 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Non ‐obstructive carotid atherosclerosis and patent foramen ovale in young adults with cryptogenic stroke
ConclusionsThis study demonstrates that NOCA is common in young adults with CS. NOCA is negatively associated with PFO. Detecting NOCA is an important component of stroke investigation in young adults.

Geographic and Sex Difference in the Distribution of Intracranial Atherosclerosis in China Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— There exists geographic and sex difference in the distribution of symptomatic ICAS in China. Public health measures should strengthen improving social determinants of health and risk factor prevention/control in high-risk populations for decreasing stroke risk.
