Hormone therapy in postmenopausal women associated with risk of stroke and venous thromboembolism: a population-based cohort study in Taiwan
Conclusions: In postmenopausal Taiwanese women, HT may be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Although the women in our population receiving HT were near menopausal age, their risk of cardiovascular disease was still higher than in the non-HT group.

Abstract 226: Strokes Worse in Women at 24 hours but Severity Reduced in Younger Women With Hormone Therapy Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusion: Women in this study had more severe 24 hour AIS outcomes than men but this improved with HRT use in women younger than 80 years. This cannot be fully explained by age differences as there could be other underlying factors. Improving 24 hour NIHSS may correctly predict later outcomes following AIS. Further study of HRT use in AIS outcomes is justified.

ConclusionsPlasma uric acid levels were not independently associated with increased risk of ischaemic stroke in this cohort of women. Whilst plasma uric acid was associated with stroke risk factors, it was not independently associated with stroke risk.

Child abuse is related to inflammation in mid-life women: Role of obesity.
CONCLUSION: A history of childhood abuse and neglect retrospectively reported is related to overall elevated inflammation in mid-life women, perhaps through obesity. A history of some types of abuse and neglect (emotional) may be related to change in inflammation, independent of simultaneously measured change in BMI. A Post-Hoc Assessment of Current Hormone Therapy on Revascularization Risk in Women: The Carotid Revascularization Endarterectomy Versus Stenting Trial (CREST) (P03.168)
CONCLUSIONS: We found that women on current HRT have lower periprocedural risk associated with CAS or CEA than non-users, but little difference in risk after the procedural period.
