Age and diabetes mellitus associated with worse outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention in a multi-ethnic Asian dialysis patient population.
CONCLUSION: Asian dialysis patients who underwent PCI had a two-year MACE rate of 55.8% due to death and AMI. Age, LVEF and diabetes mellitus were significant predictors of mortality at two years. PMID: 32179924 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Respiratory Syncytial Virus Outbreak in a Veterans Affairs Long-term Care Facility
Conclusions Respiratory syncytial virus is highly infectious and can easily cause an outbreak in an LTCF. Polymerase chain reaction testing was contributory to identify cases rapidly. Rapid PCR results and intensified infection control measures were instrumental to halt the outbreak.

Torsades de Pointes in Coronavirus Disease 2019 Infection
A 73-YEAR-OLD MAN (weight 69 kg, height 175 cm) was transferred to the authors ’ critical care unit with respiratory and acute renal failure secondary to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. His past medical history included hypertension, diabetes, and previous stroke, from which he had made a full recovery. The patient was treated with mechanical ventilation and p eritoneal dialysis. He was recruited into the hydroxychloroquine arm of the RECOVERY (Randomised Evaluation of COVID-19 Therapy) trial.

The Impact of Race on Outcomes of Revascularization for Multivessel Coronary Artery Disease.
CONCLUSIONS: Black patients with MVCAD have a higher comorbidity burden and undergo PCI at higher rates. After adjusting for baseline differences, black patients still had higher rates of PCI utilization and long-term stroke. It is possible that a significant portion of racial disparities in MVCAD are driven by differences in baseline risk, however, there is evidence of possible racial bias with regards to revascularization strategies. Predictors of Survival in Chronic Hemodialysis Patients: A 10-Year Longitudinal Follow-Up Analysis
Conclusion: In chronic hemodialysis patients, targets to improve the short-term prognosis and long-term prognosis are not equivalent. Triglyceride –Rich Lipoproteins, Apolipoproteins, and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Events Among Patients with Diabetes Mellitus and End–Stage Renal Disease on Hemodialysis
Hypertriglyceridemia may be implicated in the high atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk experienced by patients with end –stage renal disease (ESRD). In this post–hoc analysis of the “Die Deutsche Diabetes Dialyse Studie (4D)” clinical trial, we examined incident ASCVD events, defined as myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, or a coronary revascularization procedure, among 1255 participants with type 2 diabe tes and ESRD treated with hemodialysis. Cox–regression methods were used to evaluate the association of triglycerides, very–low density lipoprotein cholesterol (VLDL–C), and apolipoprotei...
