Results of a 12-Month Randomized Controlled Trial Testing the Efficacy of the Diabetes Prevention Program Group Lifestyle Balance (DPP-GLB) for People Post Stroke (GLB-CVA)

Conclusionhaemorrhagic CVA constitutes a larger percentage of stroke subtypes on this side of the globe effecting poor to lower middle class. Proper strategy to prevent and treat haemorrhagic CVA in this part of the world is the need of the hour.

Association Between Proton Pump Inhibitor Use and Risk of Stroke
We read with interest the article by Nguyen et al1 evaluating the association between proton pump inhibitor (PPI) use and ischemic stroke. The authors found that PPI use was associated with a significant increase in the risk of ischemic stroke after adjustment for established risk factors for stroke including smoking status, body mass index, p hysical activity, dietary quality, alcohol use, menopausal hormone use in women, multivitamin use, regular aspirin use, regular nonaspirin nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, use and personal history of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, or diabetes.

The prevalence of stroke according to indoor radon concentration in South Koreans: Nationwide cross section study
This study combines 2 nationwide studies. Demographic characteristics and medical history of participants were obtained from Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES) from 2007 to 2012. Participants over 40 years old and who completed the questionnaire were included in the study. Indoor radon concentration was analyzed using the mean value of winter housing radon concentration from 2012 to 2016 published by the National Institute of Environmental Research. Prevalence of heart attack and stroke and associated risk factors among Inuit in Canada: A comparison with the general Canadian population.
CONCLUSION: Inuit and the general Canadian population differ in cardiovascular health profiles. Further research is needed to characterize the health transition among Inuit, especially among the youth and female.
