Association between periodontitis and bipolar disorder: A nationwide cohort study
Whether periodontitis is a risk factor for developing bipolar disorders (BD) has not been investigated. We aimed to determine whether periodontitis is associated with the subsequent development of BD and examine the risk factors for BD among patients with periodontitis. Using ambulatory and inpatient claims data from the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD), we identified 12,337 patients who were aged at least 20 years and newly diagnosed with periodontitis between 2000 and 2004. Pharmacological blockers of CCR5 and CXCR4 improve recovery after traumatic brain injury.
We examined the effect of maraviroc, a CCR5 antagonist used in HIV patients as a viral entry inhibitor, and of plerixafor (AMD3100), a CXCR4 antagonist used in cancer patients as an immune-modulator, on mice subjected to closed head injury (CHI). Management dilemma in a rare case of pituitary apoplexy with akinetic mutism in the setting of ruptured junctional brain aneurysm: A case report and literature review
CONCLUSION: Pituitary apoplexy with ruptured A1-Acom junction aneurysm with nonfunctioning pituitary macroadenoma is rare, and its presentation with akinetic mutism has not been reported. As there is scarce literature suggesting an association between pituitary apoplexy and ruptured aneurysm, it is challenging to comment regarding its pathogenesis. Neurotic symptoms profile in a day hospital patients with an anamnesis of head injury in the past
CONCLUSIONS: Patients with a history of head injuries have a higher global severity of neurotic disorders symptoms than people without such history. Men experience head injuries more often than women, and the risk of developing symptoms of neurotic disorders is higher in men.
