ConclusionsOur findings suggest that the PaleoDiet may have cardiovascular benefits in participants from a Mediterranean country. Avoidance of ultra-processed foods seems to play a key role in this inverse association.

Is fruit intake associated with common carotid intima-media thickness?
ConclusionsWe found only a non-significant association between consuming>2 portions of fruit per day and ccIMT. Thus, our study could not confirm a negative effect of fruit intake on ccIMT. Age, sex, and homocysteine may confound this association.Key messagesCurrent recommendations of 2 portions of fruit per day seem adequate and do not negatively influence carotid intima-media thickness.Future studies should address confounding of the association between fruit intake and cardiovascular risk markers.

Burden of cardiovascular disease from 1990 to 2017 in Henan Province, China
CONCLUSIONS: The absolute burden of CVDs in Henan is still high, although age-standardized DALYs declined between 1990 and 2017. Study suggests scientists may need to rethink which genes control aging
(NIH/National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke) National Institutes of Health researchers fed fruit flies antibiotics and monitored the lifetime activity of hundreds of genes that scientists have traditionally thought control aging. To their surprise, the antibiotics not only extended the lives of the flies but also dramatically changed the activity of many of these genes. Their results suggested that only about 30% of the genes traditionally associated with aging set an animal's internal clock while the rest reflect the body's response to bacteria.
