Conclusions—Na:K intake is an independent predictor of stroke risk. Further studies are required to understand the joint effect of Na and K intake on risk of cardiovascular disease.

A Pilot Trial of a Lifestyle Intervention for Stroke Survivors: Design of Healthy Eating and Lifestyle after Stroke (HEALS)
Stroke survivors have high rates of subsequent cardiovascular and recurrent cerebrovascular events, and mortality. While healthy lifestyle practices - including a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, limited alcohol intake, and regular physical activity - can mitigate these outcomes, few stroke survivors adhere to them. Minorities from socioeconomically disadvantaged communities who obtain care in safety-net health systems experience the most barriers to implementing healthy lifestyle changes after stroke.

Inclusion of stroke patients in expanded cardiac rehabilitation services: a cross-national qualitative study with cardiac and stroke rehabilitation professionals.
CONCLUSIONS: Hybrid cardiac rehabilitation programmes could be tailored to deliver stroke-specific education, exercises and multidisciplinary expertise. Post-stroke cognitive impairment was identified as a key barrier to participation in cardiac rehabilitation. A cognitive rehabilitation intervention could potentially be delivered as part of cardiac rehabilitation, to address the cognitive needs of stroke and cardiac patients. Total and specific fruit and vegetable consumption and risk of stroke: A prospective study
Conclusion: This study shows an inverse association of fruit and vegetable consumption with stroke risk. Particularly consumption of apples and pears and green leafy vegetables was inversely associated with stroke.Highlights: ► Fruit and vegetables is a heterogeneous food group with different content of nutrients. ► It remains unclear which fruit and vegetable subgroups that are most protective against stroke. ► We examined the relation between fruit and vegetable consumption and stroke risk. ► Particularly consumption of apples/pears and green leafy vegetables was inversely associated with stroke.
