Neutrophil Recruitment in Arterial Thrombus and Characteristics of Stroke Patients with Neutrophil-Rich Thrombus
CONCLUSION: Neutrophils were recruited and increased in arterial thrombosis in a time-dependent manner; however, they were not associated with the growth of formed thrombi. Neutrophil fractions in the thrombi of stroke patients appeared to be associated with atrial fibrillation and erythrocyte fraction.PMID:36303310 | PMC:PMC9629897 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2022.0328

Comprehensive evaluation of the mechanism of Gastrodia elata Blume in ameliorating cerebral ischemia –reperfusion injury based on integrating fecal metabonomics and 16S rDNA sequencing
Gastrodia elata Blume was used to treat stroke and headaches caused by “Feng” for thousands of years. The present study has shown a significant effect of G. elata Blume in improving cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury (CIRI). However, the mechanism of G. elata Blume in improving CIRI by regulating the intestinal flora has not been reported until now. This research aimed to comprehensively evaluate the mechanism of G. elata Blume in CIRI based on fecal metabolomics and 16S rDNA sequencing. The rat model with CIRI was created based on the Zea Longa method. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to monitor ...

Protective Effect of Ergothioneine Against Stroke in Rodent Models
AbstractErgothioneine (ET) is a naturally occurring antioxidant and cytoprotective agent that is synthesized by fungi and certain bacteria. Recent studies have shown a beneficial effect of ET on neurological functions, including cognition and animal models of depression. The aim of this study is to elucidate a possible effect of ET in rodent models of stroke. Post-ischemic intracerebroventricular (i.c.v.) infusion of ET significantly reduced brain infarct volume by as early as 1  day after infusion in rats, as shown by triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) assay. There was a dose-dependent increase in protection, from 50 to...

A highly stable electrode with low electrode-skin impedance for wearable brain-computer interface
Biosens Bioelectron. 2022 Sep 28;218:114756. doi: 10.1016/j.bios.2022.114756. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTo date, brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) have proved to play a key role in many medical applications, for example, the rehabilitation of stroke patients. For post-stroke rehabilitation, the BCIs require the EEG electrodes to precisely translate the brain signals of patients into intended movements of the paralyzed limb for months. However, the gold standard silver/silver-chloride electrodes cannot satisfy the requirements for long-term stability and preparation-free recording capability in wearable EEG devices, thus...

Circular RNA circPRDX3 mediates neuronal survival apoptosis in ischemic stroke by targeting miR-641 and NPR3
CONCLUSION: Altogether, circPRDX3 inhibited the development of IS by sponging miR-641, hence increasing NPR3 expression and inactivating MAPK pathway. These results may aid in the search of potential therapy targets for IS.PMID:36208650 | DOI:10.1016/j.brainres.2022.148114
