The coronary artery calcium score (CACS) has emerged as a robust and noninvasive predictor of coronary events. Prevalence of subclinical coronary artery disease in ischemic stroke patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Our results show that the prevalence of subclinical CAD in ischemic stroke patients was high, and that a quarter of them had high-risk CAD. Age, diabetes, stroke, and male sex were independent predictors of high-risk CAD.

CONCLUSIONS: In patients with established cardiovascular disease, thoracic aortic 18F-sodium fluoride activity is associated with the progression of atherosclerosis and future ischemic stroke. Association of visit-to-visit variability in blood pressure and first stroke risk in hypertensive patients with chronic kidney disease
Conclusion:
In hypertensive adults with mild-to-moderate CKD, visit-to-visit variability in BP was significantly associated with the risk of subsequent first stroke.

Background: Beta-blockers are not recommended as the initial therapy for hypertension. Reports on associations between use of beta-blockers and stroke severity are inconclusive. Effect of Amlodipine in Stroke and Myocardial infarction: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
ConclusionIn the pooled analysis of data from 12 randomised controlled trials and one double-blinded cohort study measuring the effect of CCBs, we found that the CCB amlodipine reduced the risk of stroke and MI in hypertensive patients. Superior results for amlodipine were found in ten of the 13 studies included in this meta-analysis.

Conclusion
Among the antihypertensive classes, CCBs were most effective in reducing the long-term incidence of stroke, whereas β-blockers were associated with significantly increased risk.
