Changing the landscape of stroke in Egypt
Egypt, a low –middle-income country, is the most populated nation in the Middle East. In Egypt, the overall crude prevalence rate of stroke is high (963/100,000 inhabitants), and the incidence of stroke annually is approximately 150 000 to 210 000. The official national statistics indicate that diseases of the circulatory system, including stroke, are the primary cause of death in Egypt, where stroke accounts for 6.4% of all deaths and ranks third after cardiovascular and gastrointestinal diseases. Although the number of deaths attributed to stroke have declined in many countries, in Egypt, it was relati vely unchanged in the past 10 years.

A pilot study of the ticagrelor role in ischemic stroke secondary prevention
Conclusion: Ticagrelor was noninferior to aspirin regarding safety profile. Borderzone Infarction and Small Vessel Disease in a Sample of Egyptian Stroke Patients: Differences and Similarities
Conclusion: Limb shaking, retinal claudication or syncope, with MRI showing rosary pattern of white matter hyperintensity, few microbleeds and markedly impaired perfusion favor the diagnosis of borderzone infarctions. On the other hand, presence of lacunae, FLAIR showing symmetrical WMH and microbleeds with minimal or no perfusion deficit suggests the diagnosis of small vessel disease.

Circulating lncRNAs HIF1A-AS2 and LINLK-A: Role and Relation to Hypoxia-Inducible Factor-1 α in Cerebral Stroke Patients
This study investigated the expression of lncRNAs HIF1A-AS2 and LINK-A, and their target gene hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) in Egyptian stroke patients. Clinical and Radiological Characteristics of Acute Cerebrovascular Diseases Among Egyptian Patients With COVID-19 in Upper Egypt
Conclusion: Acute CVD among patients with COVID-19 was common in our study. LVO was the commonest. Hypertension, IHD, and anemia are the most common risk factors and could contribute to the worsening of clinical presentation. Comorbidities were common among patients with CVD, although a large number had elevated liver enzymes and creatinine that were partially due to COVID-19 infection itself. Using ESN-Smartphone Application to Maximize AIS Reperfusion Therapy in Alexandria Stroke Network: A Stroke Chain of Survival Organizational Model
Conclusion: Our pilot experience demonstrated that the use of the ESN-app expedited the stroke treatment workflow and facilitated tele-connection between registered stroke facilities.
